C350e owners club

Impressed with that economy over 75 miles. Not many people reporting over 50mpg. Only had mine two days and done short journeys, but very happy so far.

It's on the drive right now ready to charge overnight and I've just noticed it's raining. Please no water ingress problems here..

I've been charging mine in the rain, fingers crossed! The position of the socket is poor as it points upwards ready to collect any moisture.

I had a Toyota prius previous to the volvo S60 which made way for the c350e and to maximise the fuel economy you have to pulse and glide with the accelerator. Once the electric miles have been used up you accelerate up to your cruising speed, lift off the accelerator momentarily, the engine switches off and then reapply the accelerator keeping an eye on the ev gauge below the Rev counter. This is really tedious but maximises the mpg. I use my c350e for work doing only local journeys each upto 30ish miles. My boot is full with tools, test equipment and PPE.

I've been charging outside come rain or shine since delivery at the beginning of April and, touch wood, have had no issues so far with water ingress.

First long journey completed yesterday (all others under 10 miles mostly on Electric so far).
Travelled from south London to Enfield via the Blackwall tunnel (on a full charge) then onwards up to Nottingham and then back with a fully laden car and no further plugged in charges.
I'm really happy with the results to be honest so I hope it continues, I've hopefully posted one pic of the trip display for the first part of the journey then another for the whole journey.
Also, I charged the car again when I got home and based on the above journeys the estimated "range" is now showing as 17 miles, I expect to see that drop when I go back to local journeys.
I also got to play properly with the distronic plus, my previous Audi just had bog standard cruise control ( nothing wrong with that I must add) but the distronic is incredible....I didn't have to touch the peddles in the usual stop start fun leading up to and through the Blackwall tunnel, it's also a bit weird when the wheel starts turning itself !!

Had mine for a couple of months now and it's developed a strange intermttent fault. The car had completely failed on two occasions leaving me stranded until I switch off open and close the drivers door and restart. The engine management light stays on for a while then goes out. Seems to be when I have operated the wiper switch, the first time switching from off the auto and the second pressing the single swipe button. Booked in in the 29th to see what's occurring.

I'be done 4500 miles now in 7 weeks(3 weeks without charge) and getting around 45mpg. I always charge rain or shine.

The only issue I have is that the gearbox is really slow. If i put it in Park at the lights then into drive, I really have to floor it before it moves. Its intermittent too. I had an ambulance behind me and just could not move. I could ask the dealer to look at it but I guess they wont see a fault.

How come it took you nearly 9 hours to cover just 300 miles?

A week or so to wait for my c350e and excitement is building :)

Quick question on charge stations please. Is there any mileage (pun intended) in using the ecotricity free charge stations for a quick boost or would I be wasting my time?
I use them all the time at the services (if they are working).
Two main reasons.
1) it is free, so why not
2) The parking spaces are often the closest available to the entrance to the services!!

10 minutes charge (quick break at the gents and grabbing a coffee) can get you 2-3 miles extra.

I was at Scratchwood the other day and there was actually a queue for the charging!!
1 Mitsubishi was charging, one was waiting and then there was me. Its not really worth waiting to charge so I left

Did my first public charge yesterday at Ikea Notts. Free of charge whilst everyone else was driving around trying to find a parking space [emoji5]

Got me from 'zero' to 74% on the charger (86% on the Web app???) in just over an hour so well happy.

Car is brilliant. Only quirk I have is Spotify tracks playing sometimes differs from what it says on the screen.

Ive done about 3500 miles in mine now, and am averaging 91.1 mpg over that. Very happy with that.

Wow, is most of your driving over short distances, at lowish speeds?

If I only did my daily commute, I think I could get up to 70-80MPG average, but whenever I need to drive for work a large distance it soon brings my economy down. For example a trip to Liverpool and back of 270miles, in with my commute, gave me a tank of ~46MPG.

My total MPG over 9000 miles is 40.8.

its a mix really. I tend to do short trips at the weekend, and will usually always use the battery. During the week I have a 22 mile commute each way, and would normally have the engine running for about 5 miles. I can charge at work and have a rolec charger at home.

Why do you put it in park at the lights? Just a firm press on the brake when you are stopped puts it into hold then move off by pressing the accelerator.

I'd say so long as you leave it in gear it's fine. I do notice the slowness of the gearbox when doing a 3 point turn however, when changing from drive to reverse and back again it seems to take an eternity compared to a manual box.

And I thought it was me being a noob...

I'd appreciate opinions on Park vs Hold at lights. This is my first auto :) I tend to leave is on hold but if it's going to be more than 30s then I'll pop it into P. Am I wasting my time?

To put it bluntly...yes you are.
Automatic transmissions are about making things easy. Just keep your foot on the brake.

The hold facility on the brake pedal isn't that easy to activate, I find I have to release pressure and reapply fairly quickly to activate, sometimes resulting in the car jolting forward. The VW system is better where it apples the auto hold, automatically on application of the brakes once the car comes to a standstill. Maybe I haven't quite got the knack yet though with around 6000 miles in the car, it shouldn't be that tricky to use.

My first auto and I too find it too slow to change when you're trying to quickly whip around in the road or something and people are waiting.

I had a Prius a few years ago and I don't remember a delay. I wonder if the reversing camera causes the delay? Opening the lens cover and displaying the obligatory warning probably take longer than changing gear
