Hi guys
Decided to put my 507 estate up for sale- thought I would place here first to gauge interest before going down the usual routes.

Well seeing as I do like a good write up.... ,If I get time that is, I have some cars coming over to me for some paint correction so it may be a while before I get to it.
Stainless steel would have been great and easy to polish
Probably need to cut the exhaust pipes and then weld back on afterwards?Having spent an hour or two under the back of mine today I’m not sure if the chrome tips will simply “pull off” if the tack welds are cut away![]()
As AboveProbably need to cut the exhaust pipes and then weld back on afterwards?
What is it that wheel refurbishers get wrong with the 507 wheel?![]()
Having spotted a ”Unicorn” while I was out getting my daily exercise I‘m still looking for two more , a company that refurbishes the 507 black alloys to an OEM finish and a way of replacing or getting the C63 exhaust tips back to “New”.![]()

I'm working on both too, will report back as soon as I have the right answers

As Yex said , it’s the silver lip which is the problem, you can see the marks left by the 5 Axis milling machine during manufacture. Most of the black 507 alloys end up being finished all black and loose the silver lip. As of yesterday I’ve definitely seen a Unicorn (albeit an inflatable plastic one) but I’ve never seen a black 507 alloy refurnished to the OEM finish.![]()
Is there a raised lip between the machine edge and the painted sections?![]()

Yes I believe the lip is just diamond cut, I have a similar design on some of my wheels. That must make it trickier to refurb.Yes, the silver outline around the rim is a groove cut into the rim with a milling machine. As far as I’m aware the black 507 alloys are the only AMG ones with this feature, there was a similar design available for the SLS but I’m not sure if they had the same groove or just a diamond cut lip![]()

What do refurbishers do, paint the whole wheel with the milled section masked (assuming there’s no damage to the milled area)?
I guess if the milled area is damaged then they must cut the lip?
This image illustrates the problem, taken from some for sale right now on eBay. One still has the lip but has been painted black and the other has been turned down so has lost the lip. It's also possible it started life as the diamond cut version as that doesn't have the lip.
