C63 507 Model Register

Hi Andy was just checking the options list when your reply came in - I will go with the wrap option, as you say it's reversible.

Just noticed this, have you come across this before. Not sure if the boot lid has been chafing against the bumper or it's been slammed down too hard over the years. I opened up the adjusters on the underside of the bootlid to raise it slightly (might be better done on the lock catch) - unfortunately I can now see the line/mark. Will need to get this repaired. Hum dum.....

Cheers Simon.

That’ll buff out I’m sure

Not got anything like that on mine. I’d try cleaning that area with a piece of clay first to see what it’s really like. One of the advantages /disadvantages of a white car is anything on the paint becomes instantly obvious.

I have a full set of black badges on the back of my car and it has also been dechromed either from new or by a previous owner but the look suits the car.
I got a replacement black 3 pointed star off of amazon after breaking the original one whilst cleaning it the first time :wallbash:

You can see how the badges and dechromed look appear on the car Sunday if you are at the meeting, or I’m sure there will be photos :thumb:

Many thanks, can't get there Sunday - do you have any pics? Thanks Simon.

Ben Griffiths of Cheshire Car Care (really good guy) tells me he can refurb the 507 wheels and is able to restore the edge detail back to original. He's says he's done them before. I will see him tomorrow, as he will probably have some pictures. Will keep you posted. Cheers Simon.

Some lovely cars on this thread.

I've just sold my 2016 W205 C63S and currently on the lookout for a 507 saloon or estate if anyone is thinking of selling?

Hi Simon

That’s good news. I went to see a local CNC Machining company who do work in motorsports. Bottom line is it needs a big CNC milling machine to take a 19inch Alloy and a lot of work to set it up , measure and get the cutting programme. The actual cutting would be a few minutes. For low numbers the cost would be expensive :( Hope you have better luck tomorrow :thumb:

In fact I have the video of this car - it's the one I missed! I was away for a few days and on return, it had gone to your goodself.

I was very lucky to get the car. It was highlighted to me on a Thursday afternoon by a friend who knew I was looking for a 507 coupe and I had called the dealership immediately and arranged to see it on the Saturday but decided to “work from home” on the Friday and went over to see it at 8am, drove it for about 30 minutes on all sorts of roads and bought it there and then. Dealership had to cancel 5 booked test drives on the Saturday apparently.

The video landed in my inbox mid-week as I was going away - car gone by Monday as you know. Fortunately they all look good and unlike the M's and others that you see every day - the 507 is a rare beast, I have only seen one in 5 months. Black was my second choice even it is a pain to keep clean, I like the white too but yours is the doggies you know what. Have a good weekend.

Hello guys
Be grateful for your thoughts/experience on oil. Appreciate the spec is 229.5 however, which is the better choice 0w-40 or 05W-40 and what difference does it make. Be grateful for your advice/experience. Thanks Simon.

Before I purchased my C63 507 I kept a register of all the cars that I saw for sale, until eventually I found the right one for me, a silver coupe with black 507 wheels. I decided to keep the list going, partly for interest and partly as a challenge, to see how many of the 233 UK registered cars I could find. OK, I know it makes me look like a right 'Anorak' but this is the last of the big engine NA cars that Mercedes ever made so a milestone in their history.

I did post previously here
C63 507 Statistics

but since then the Register has grown to 130 cars for which I have Registration No., build spec etc.

The first 507 was registered in July 2013 and the last in May 2015. The busiest months for new cars, unsurprisingly, were Sept 2013 and March 2014.

Coupes were the most popular body style and Estates quite rare. I understand only 21 Estates were ever sold in the UK

Colour wise, Polar White is by far the one you're most likely to see. I hadn't originally realised that Tenorite Grey was an option as there was no mention of this in the sales brochure.

Looking at the options list then Privacy Glass, Harmon Kardon sound system and Black 19" wheels feature on over half the cars. If you're looking for a Tenorite Grey Estate with Lane tracking package you may have a long wait (one does exist though).

Finally, interior trim. Most going for full black leather rather than either of the Leather/Dinamica options

I know there are a few on here who own, or have owned a 507 so would be great if you can send me a pm with details of your car so I can include on the Model Register [Apowers; JohnV; kw507; Contrast; Bongo Fury; Mike746; steelnads; bravo05; benzyone; H20MRV).

Also, let me know if there's anything else you'd like to know about this awesome model and I'll add to this thread.

Hello Phil
I just posted a question on engine oil, I am not quite sure how the forum format works and if 'everyone' sees every post. Be grateful for your view/advice. Thanks Simon.

Did you make any progress with the refurbishment of the 507 alloys?

Hi Andy, Ben was late getting back to his place yesterday - I am going to see him late Tuesday am. I just want to make sure he can do it before I post that he can. Cheers Simon.

NB I posted a question on oil (not quite sure if everyone sees all the posts in the lounge) just pondering the relative merits of 0W-40 or 05W-40 oil both meet 229.5 spec but maybe it does not make a really big difference.
