C63 507 Model Register

Hi Andy
Mine are pretty good too as you can see from the media, although I have replaced the wheel bolts with McGard as the originals were badly rusted. He charges £95 + VAT per wheel although I suspect he'd want a bit more for the 507 wheels. However, he does a lot of MB's and he would like to 'get in' with the club, so I am sure he would do a deal or at least do the standard price. He certainly does great work, I saw an original Mustang there recently and last week he just finished a detail and seal on a Ferrari Portofino....Home | Cheshire Car Care Cheers Simon

Hi Simon

I’ve had a look at the website and his work looks first rate. I’m still interested in how he gets the oem finish on the black 507 alloys as a diamond cutting machine will only get you so far, I cant see how the AMG logo can be diamond cut. The Himalaya Grey, in comparison, are quite straightforward as they are Diamond cut. Look forward to seeing some examples of what they have done with the satin black.

Hi Andy
He says he knows they need to be done on a CNC machine. Suggestion; they come up occasionally on ebay/gumtree - saw 2 for sale on the later not so long ago. Some risk of them being buckled or cracked but can factor this into the sale. If I can find some, I can ask Ben to do them on the basis of paying if they are right. I think I am sending him enough referrals now to get away with this. Looking at the price new and assuming Ben can do what he says, would be a good investment as it would not be the first time I have damaged a wheel (even if I am very careful). I will have a hunt. Simon.

PS I will ask him if he has any photos as he says he's done them before.

Hi Simon

Good effort on tracking this company down. I’m sure there will be someone who is looking for an OEM finish in the not too distant future who will put some work their way. I contacted the company in Milton Keynes who Phil had used but they couldn’t supply any photos of the work.

I plan to get this done but have some rusted bolts under the bonnet, above the grill, bonnet catches etc. Does anyone know of a parts diagram where I can identify the ones required so I can order? Tried quite a few searches without success. Thanks in advance for any pointers.

have you tried looking for a service / owners manual on google, I always managed to download my race bike manuals etc.

Yes, tried inumerable searches without success. I might just have to take it to MB and get their help. Cheers Simon.

that's a bugger, what nuts and bolts are you trying to replace, if they are rusty, can they not be removed, polished up and sealed again?

Simon,
Are you referring to the Star headed bolts, Holding the upper portion of the grill? Or the 8mm bolts for the actual hinges and catch?

I'm still looking for a 507 saloon or estate if anyone on here is looking to sell?

I really wish you well in your search but if anyone owning an estate has been watching the market trends it’s better off owning one than money in the bank... I didn’t want an estate but if one had come up during my search I would have bought it purely for investment!

Should have better look with a saloon but the last one I saw was at BMW locally and went for a song (28k)! Sold within 5 minutes of listing... no surprise there.

Good luck! And if/when you do find one post pictures... and more pictures... and more...

Trying to upload pictures of the offending bolts to media to share but without success, says file is too large. Not sure what the problem is as I uploaded several other photos to my media the other day - maybe you can only have a certain number of pictures?

I think the saloon they had they didn't know what it was :)

Another engine oil question...

It seems from reading the owners manual that when the oil level is checked, it has to be done after the engine has been running and oil is warm, and then left for 5 mins before the checking.
Does it have to be done this way or can it be done before the engine is started?? surely its better to check the levels before starting the engine?

Levels vary notably depending on how warm the oil is and how long it's had to drain down. Whilst I agree it's easiest to measure when cold and after it's stood for a while you need to follow the handbook to get the right amount that hits the target on the dipstick under the specified conditions.

Is this any help?

ENGINE HOOD MERCEDES C-KLASSE [Car] [CHASSIS] (EUROPA)

If you input your Vin# on the main page I would hope you get the 507 bonnet diagram. As you can see there are 3 types of 204 to choose from and each diagram has different models.
Something to look through anyway.

Hopefully Phil will see your post shortly and let you know how well it is specced if he knows the car. It appears well priced but if you want the 507 19” wheels on the car you are looking at a significant investment. Hope the car is as good as you hope as they are wonderful beasts to own :thumb:
