I’m definitely liking the look of the Himalaya Grey alloys on the Polar White, I know where there is excellent black ones likely to become available :D

I can’t warm to that leather colour and I’m now intrigued how it came to have that? I thought the 507 options were , black, black and white , or black and Dynamica :dk:

Just spotted the rear spoiler , that looks aftermarket :dk:

I like the Himalaya grey wheels on white but not nearly as much as the black wheels in OEM condition.

The machined ones do look the part on black cars though...

Stay with black on white IMO of course it’s your choice...

Black wheels get my vote, on any car colour !

My problem is I don’t have black wheels !!

For anyone looking this certainly makes a cheap set if you can live with the fact they aren’t to the original finish...

Set Of 4 Genuine Mercedes alloy wheels staggered (507 edition) See Description | eBay

I’m starting to think OEM refurbishment on the black 507 alloys is a bit like a Unicorn, I’m still to see a set done correctly. Without the silver outline there not the same IMO.

Saw a 507 with Himalayas done all black and they didn’t right either. At least with reps you get a silver lip

Black can look great but without a silver or even coloured lip the wheel is just one big black blob , bit like these ;)

I might go with both , Himalaya for summer, black for winter. I’m not planning on SORN as some of the best drives I’ve had are over the winter months. :thumb:

Nice wrapped rims Andy, could start a new craze there!

I saw those ‘all black’ rims on eBay too. I then spent an inordinate amount of time perusing google images trying to persuade myself that because the stock alloy lip is so narrow, it doesn’t really matter and ‘all black’ will look fine.

But I failed. Especially on a black car, I think all black rims would not look good. To the point where I worry people might flag me down wanting to buy drugs...

So, current thinking is I’m needing some black 507 wheels WITH the alloy lip. On which I’ll mount summer tyres, allowing me to mount winter tyres on my 18” rims.

Now I just gotta decide whether it’s stock or after market replicas. Given the price difference... and the fact this car is a ‘user’ that gets parked in narrow city streets... and is driven (and parked) occasionally by my wife... I think replicas would be the sensible option.

I think...

Ok guys, noob question alert:

I’ve looked through the handbook and whilst it gives precise info on tyre size and speed rating for both summer and winter tyres, and a stern warning to only use the tyres recommended by Mercedes, I cannot see anything telling precisely what the recommended tyres are.

So, two questions:

1) what are the Mercedes recommended tyres?

2) what tyres do folk actually recommend based on experience?

Same question for 19” summer tyres and 18” winter tyres.

I run Michelin Pilot Sports 4s in the Summer and Toyo Snowprox S954 for the winter set.

I think the recommended tyres are either Conti's with the MO Profile or Michelin's with the MO profile. I had problems finding the MO profile for the rears.

I had Conti's on a previous C63 and they were decent but dangerous. The Michelin's feel more planted and great wet grip.

TBH I think that £1000.00 for a full set is a good price, bear in mind that they are around £900.00 each as quoted from my local dealer.

and again as with all cars, its a matter of personal taste, I don't like the silver lip on the wheel, hence why I has mine done without it. I would probably buy them myself If I hadn't taken out a 4yr insurance policy on the wheels and tyres.

Mercedes fitted Conti's to my car when they refurbed my wheels,
I find the tyres ok, but the feel from the Michelin's is a little better, as are goodyear eagle F1's.
I think if the tracking/ alignment is set up properly and of course an LSD, the difference between them all isn't going to be that much

Again, its a matter of personal preference, I had the same thing with race bike tyres, most of my friends always ran pirelli , but I hated them and only ever ran Dunlop because I had more feel from them.

You're absolutely correct that those seats weren't a factory option on the 507. You could have black leather, black leather with black dinamica or porcelain leather with black dinamica. Suspect the owner swapped them for Sand coloured seats at some point or possibly had them retrimmed.

The car has also had a Quaife diff fitted, eurocharged map (No figures quoted) and that truly awful rear spoiler and diffuser.

If Brooklands offer an OEM finish with the silver lip on the black 507 alloys I’ll give them a call and get a price from them, so far several folk have struck out on finding anyone who can do the OEM refurb , let alone a MB dealership, thanks for that info :thumb:

Hi Phil

I thought that would be the case, was that one on your list? The questionable leather colour and oversize rear spoiler were possibly one of “all the options ticked” that were only available to one lucky purchaser. :D

Hello all, I’m brand new here and I’m actively looking at this very car!

Apart from being on 18” rims, what’s wrong with it? It seems very well priced and in very good condition...
It's relatively low mileage and only 2 owners. Unfortunately the original owner completely ignored the options list, hence why it's probably taken a long time to sell.

Yes, already on the list as the owner put it up for sale towards the end of last year but presumably didn't get any takers.

Forgot to mention it has secondary decat too!

apparently they don't do the refurb, its part of the wheel warranty, they replace the wheel with an already refurbed wheel/s after a strength test etc, if it fails then they have to replace it with a new one.
