C63 507 Model Register

Hello all, I’m brand new here and I’m actively looking at this very car!

Apart from being on 18” rims, what’s wrong with it? It seems very well priced and in very good condition...

Probably nothing wrong with it other than doesn’t look like it’s got any options and running 18s not the 507 alloys so in black on those wheels it would look like a “regular” C63 with 507 stripes as the black accents on the 507 (bonnet vents , mirrors, boot lip, running lights, grill surround ) won’t stand out.

As for the usual trader “best colour combination” that’s very personal, no doubt if the car was silver , red , etc the add would read the same. On a white car the difference in look between the regular and 507 is very striking, I’ve owned both :thumb:

PS if you do buy it and want a genuine set of unmarked 507 black alloys I know where there are some ;)

Just seen this , looks spot on other than the interior, not my cuppa , and not sure how it came to have that as it wasn’t an option on the 507 as far as I’m aware. :dk:

I think the statement of “every single option ticked” could be a little bit off the mark, but does look a nice spec other than the interior colour

Thanks for the input Gents.

Yes, I know a lot of guys don’t like black, but I’m one of those that do! Our GLC43 is also black with black. I even prefer the fact that the 507 detailing, whilst still there, is far more ‘discrete’ on black. And for me, a black interior is the only option!

I’m even happy it has a limited list of options compared to some, I’m not much of a gadget kinda guy really, and as I see it, these cars are all about THAT engine. In fact, that’s precisely why I’m looking for one over a W205 variant.

Its only the wheels that I’m not 100% on. I do understand why the original buyer may have specified them, the last car I had with ultra low profiles on 19” rims was a VERY harsh ride around Oxford pot hole strewn roads.

I’m currently contemplating that 18”s for winter tyres and 19”s for summer tyres might be a good option.

Regarding the original wheels... Andy I may well be interested, please PM me with details. However, unfortunately my wife will also drive this car on occasions, which means the wheels will inevitably meet the curbs at some point (well its true)! I realise that what I’m about to say may be blasphemous, but, how good are the 507 replica wheels, they’re a little over £500 a set on eBay. That would make curb damage far more palatable!

As you can probably tell, wheels not withstanding, I’ve basically already made my mind up on this car. Hope to be enjoying it this week.

If black is your preferred colour and you’re not bothered about options then this is probably a great car for you. Black is very marmite , you love or hate it, I’ve had one and I’m in the “never again Camp”. I can’t advise regarding replica 507 alloys other than to say another 507 owner, or anyone who knows AMG alloys will spot them a mile off. Same with resale most people want a 507 with the correct alloys. I’d only put genuine 507s on my car, but if you’re not bothered then go replicas. As for the ride, a C63 on 19s it’s way better than many cars I’ve owned which had 18s and I don’t like a harsh ride.

I’ll pm regarding the alloys.

Andy

Unfortunately Nigel you haven’t enough posts to use PM yet , I’m sure you can sort that’s easily ;)

Replica wheels are typically regarded as better than the standard multi-spoke 19" wheels that came on the C63 as the OEM ones crack so much. However, the genuine 507 wheels are forged so therefore much stronger and lighter than replicas.

Depending on how in tune you are with driving dynamics you should notice the benefit of lighter wheels but it's relatively subtle and if you know they will get damaged you may as well stick to replicas. The design is close but the obvious give away is the AMG logo can't be machined into the wheel, although there are badges you can stick on instead.

This car has been moved around the trade a fair bit I believe so ensure to give it a good thorough going over, it won’t have been used much over the past 8-10 months.

The 507/C63 as standard is very well specced, the options are just nice to haves... personally the ambient lighting being one of the cheapest options on mine is my favourite.

Don’t jump at the first car you see either, view a couple.

Thanks for that Steve.

That’s good advice for sure, I’ll try and remember that NEXT TIME I buy a car... the black 507 is now sat on my drive!

I feel sorry for you guys, cos I’ve just bought the best car out there!

Yeah I know, new purchase euphoria etc, but seriously, on the 80 mile drive home I just couldn’t stop grinning. Just a fabulous car. But then you guys know how fabulous they are already.

The car drives much smoother than I expected, certainly not what I was expecting compared to the SLK 55 I had a while ago. In all aspects it’s actually a lot more refined than I’d anticipated.

I think my comments about the 18” rims being good because they’ll give a smoother ride now seem out of place, I can’t really imagine 19” rims turning it into a kidney rattler.

So I just gotta decide if I want to do anything about the rims now. And, although I want to keep things subtle and not ‘hot rod’ it, I am wondering if a light sprinkling of carbon fibre goodies (ie defuser, mirrors, stock style boot spoiler) might just be the icing on the cake?

All in all... very happy!

as for the 19"wheels, I have the black 507 wheels and the ride is no where near as harsh as you might imagine, our daily car is GLE350 so when comparing the 2 cars the C63 is very comfortable, its doesn't tram line either, another surprise for me.

Congratulations..! Although saying you bought the best car out there might cause some upset... perhaps the best available currently on the market though? However I’m sure it’s perfect.

Anyway, you are right, they are extremely comfortable to live ride wise. My friends s-line A4 is considerably harsher in comparison.

Get a genuine set of 19’s for it and use them in the summer, stick the 18’s on when the wife uses it...

And of course... get some pictures up..! We can’t get enough pictures...

Anyone seen this? 507 Estate 28k miles. £28k. Seems like the dealer doesn't know its a 507! Notes Performance Pack.

Check out this Mercedes-Benz C Class that I have just found on #motorscouk

I'd have snapped this up if I was in the market for a red estate.

I’m sure someone purchased this recently, saw one posted the other day on a c class page on Facebook that they had just bought

Wonder if that bonnet is genuine or if the previous owner managed to retrofit the 507 grills :dk:

Bonnets butchered to fit 507 grilles look horrendous, Projex tried a while back and the work looked shoddy

There are carbon on FRP 507 bonnets out there nowadays with and without ducting, sprayed and fitted for under £800-£900

Brand new OEM one is £2800 from MB, add about £300 for vents and ducting, insulation, another few hundred for spraying and matching it’s a £3500 All in job o_O

Me personally... I’m just waiting for one of you to dink yours and sell me one :D:D:D

Would that be a Polar White one Ash, I’m fitting bubble wrap to mine :D
