C63 507 Model Register

Nigel

One option is to get the parts you’re thinking of wrapped. A few reasons CF is expensive , getting the rear spoiler off I’m told is a right pain and may get damaged, as the 507 gets older the “unmolested” ones will be sought after, a wrap will also help protect the gloss black. As with all things there is good CF wrap and not so good , same goes for application, but will be way cheaper than swapping out parts

Just my thoughts

Andy

Gotta be honest, I hadn’t considered wrapping. I’ve always thought that was a bit, well, you know.

But ‘protecting an unmolested example’ does resonate with me, there’s a wrapping place not far from me, I’ll check them out and see what’s what.

Glad to be of help Nigel, I've just saved you a fortune!
I also think that a completely Black wheel makes the red caliper and wheel hub more pronounced with Chrome star emblems Again it is a personal preference.

Atm I'm also thinking of blacking out the chrome grill and just leaving the 3 pointed star in chrome and the same on the boot, so that everything is black or silver other than the emblems to match the wheels

I think you’re right about highlighting the disc, hub and caliper Lee. I also think I’m gonna have to do a bit of detailing in that area when I change the wheels on mine.

Your blacking out plan sounds good to me!

Just a thought Nigel. As will all things you can get cheap n nasty or very well done wrap

Looking forward to see what you decide , and the results.

Do you have any photos of the ones done by Projex:dk:

IIRC there is a thread on here names Project 507, or 507 bonnet/Projex where you can see the finished article and pick it apart!

Is anyone running number plates fixed to the front with just sticky pads? Mine has a number plate surround which I’d like to do away with but don’t want to have screws and plastic caps through the number plate. The front has quite a bend in it so not sure if sticky pads will hold it with it wanting to straighten up and spring off :dk:

Careful as when you remove the front plate holder you’ll realise it too was held in by screws, so you’d need to fill the bumper... which by the way looks beautiful without a holder. I am thinking of removing and filling/spraying and buying a stick on plate for the side like Boon/Syrius9 has done

Gents,

I’d like to fit a carbon fibre defuser, centre part to the front spoiler, rear boot spoiler, and mirror housings.

I don’t want to change the design, I want them all stock design, just in carbon fibre.

I’m a little overwhelmed by the choices on offer from different suppliers and fear buying parts that don’t fit or look right.

Can anyone point me in the best direction?

My car is going to Unit17 in Birmingham next month if all is well, they have carbon everything for the W204, OEM fitment and a very good reputation. They supply and fit, or you can order and fit DIY. I am going for mirrors, OEM rear lip spoiler and possibly the black series lip although they don’t stock that

Rear diffuser I am going for the Vorsteiner. Obviously ‘real’ carbon will set you back thousands, I believe Unit17’s items are carbon on FRP but they look fantastic. On their Facebook and Instagram you can see another 507 in red which has had products from them, including a wealth of regular 204’s :thumb:

The rear lip comes off relatively easy, on the FB page there should be a pic of a white coupe during the removal stage of the spoiler. Mirrors come off in five seconds, simply set the mirror glass forward so you don’t catch your fingers when removing, then pull the bottom of the casing towards you, then lift the casing up and off. Transfer the indicators over to the new housing and plug the indicators back in and slide the casing back down on the mirrors

^also be a good time to check your puddle lights (if specced) are in and/or working

Just seen this thread, It’s so useful and full of info.
I’m on the look out for a Mint low mileage 507 coupe / estate. If anyone is interested in selling, please get in touch.

Welcome Tom

Where abouts in Yorkshire are you ? Good choice of car but a bit of a difference between the coupe and estate ;)

Andy

Sherburn in Elmet :)

Nice car Mickel. System won’t allow me to PM you. Any idea what your looking for it?

I’ve been reading the Estates are the only to have due to them holding there money really well.

Not far away from me then with the the bikers favourite cafe. I think you need 25 posts to use PM

Using Phil's charts

78% Coupe 183

15% Saloon 35

7% Estate 16

Estates are bit like Hens Teeth so will go quickly. As with all cars try and have a look at a few and get a feel for them , you will soon be able to spot a good one. There are 234 507s out there but inevitably they haven’t all been treated the same, happy hunting ;)

Thanks Andy,
Estate would be my 1sr option due to the rarity, And they seem to retain there price.
A lot of coupes out there for sale, Think they seem to be the most popular, Marketing wise to say the least.

Looks very tidy Mike, can’t help thinking the Himalaya Grey alloys were made for that colour :)

100% Himalayas. A bit too much black, But again looks nice either way. Will be interesting to know spec / mileage. Along with price.

Thank you

I like the shape and stance of the coupes as did 78% of people who bought a 507 new. I don’t need 4 seats but want more space than a true 2 seater, say an SL, that’s why I’ve got one . Its not used as daily driver but does do long trips away. Most rear seats in a C63 coupe are as new because no one other than a small child will fit in, but you have loads of boot space. The estate is definitely more spacious and practical , but is a 6.2L V8 that has a bit of an addiction to VPower and rubber ever really going to be really “practical”.

Depends on which car you really want or the one you hope is going to hold its money better.

The coupes are definitely nicer with appearance. But I wouldn’t mind an estate as I have a family so will be versatile. Yet fun at the same time :)

Versatile is probably a much better description than practical. If you have family the coupe would only work if they are A. small and B, like dark confined spaces, which is what you will have in the back with privacy glass ;)

Doubt you’ll get many arguments there Tom.

I’m just not sure if you realise, as Andy posted earlier, there are 16, that’s SIXTEEN, such cars in the country (assuming none have been written off etc).

Hunting for one will be a long, slow, patience testing process!

In general, estates usually lead a harder life than Coupes (a direct function of their versatility / practicality) so that further limits the chances of an immaculate estate coming available.

Not saying don’t do it... jus’ sayin’ be patient !!

Finding a “mint” 507 coupe isn’t easy as the well know purveyors of decent 507s will be in there with cash and have it spirited away within 24 hours if it’s a “Goodun. With only 16 estates that 24 hours is probably down to “by sunset”. I think we all wish you well with your search for an estate but sorting Brexit by the end of October may be an easier task ;)
