C63 507 Model Register

Not yet. I am on a course of medication and it has had side effects this week. Hope to sort something out next week.

However it would appear that the problem with the Red paint can hit at any point, I plan to have a look for comparison purposes, but unless very cheap to allow for any future issues/battles with MB and resale I wouldn't buy a red 507.

I personally hate it when a relatively new car (less than 10 years old more specifically) has been repaired/repainted. Something about original paint I prefer rather than something that’s been masked off. I will unfortunately be steering clear of them all together!

That could stimulate a debate. Would you rather have a front bumper that is peppered with stone chips or one that is immaculately painted.

I'm in the latter camp and intending to get my front bumper resprayed before it's 5 years old.

Sorry! It could... I guess general repairs such as bumper and bonnet but when rear quarters etc have been repainted it looks suspect. My last 507 had the bumper painted and the job was terrible, it came up a lot better with a detail and mop over but it still wasn’t great. It’ll be hard to get hold of a C63 without stone chips I know unless it’s not been driven properly...but I’ll search for the best one I can find.

I think you’d struggle finding one with all original Paint. As you’ll find 9 times out of 10 the bumpers have had some paint at some point. I’ve seen £100k + Ferrari’s / alike also being the same.
As long as the job has been done right. Won’t bother me.

I think the important point is about it being “done right”. High quality paint work doesn’t come cheap and a lot of folk won’t pay the price that top end body shops charge. I’m in the get it redone when it’s looking tired Camp but will get a quality job done.

The other major issue is the type of paint, pearlescent is way more expensive as I’m informed that adjacent panels need to be “blended in”. As for Magno I’ve been told stories by an AMG salesmen of folk who have had paint redone several times before it matched.

Polar white for me ;)

100% agree with you Andy. You get what you pay for

A bit like tyres , if a car has Ditch Finders on it I’d walk away from any car, it says a huge amount about the previous owners attitude to looking after (or not) their car. Unless you are buying something extremely rare another car will come along if you are patient, the challenge is to be patient

That Magno wrap just looks stunning.

The issue I have with a wrap is what’s underneath it? It could be perfect paint , and then it could be something less perfect? So long as you go into these things eyes wide open it’s not an issue. :)

Magno is a very nice colour indeed, But as you said earlier, If Body repair is required. Could be an issue to get a perfect colour match. But all in all a beautiful colour though....

I absolutely love Magno Selanite Grey , but I couldn’t live with it, I’m too addicted to clay :D:D:D

Prestige wheel centre in Birmingham, Have a vast amount of experience on 507 wheels. They regularly carry out work for Mercedes Solihull and other MB dealers. Quality is second to none..

I spoke to Prestige Wheels in Birmingham and sent photos of the 507 alloys. They came back pretty quickly with this response.

“Hi Andrew,

The C63 AMG 507 W204 wheel as pictured is probably one of the only wheels made by Mercedes wheel manufacturers that we cannot repair. The silver outer and AMG logo are milled into the wheel via a 5-axis machine which we do not have here.

We can refinish the wheels to an alternative finish, however, we cannot return that particular design to original finish.

Kind Regards”

Looks like the black 507 alloys are particularly difficult to refurbish back to OEM specification.

I think Phil said he’d had his successfully redone.

Oh dear, Must have had a bad experience for them to stop doing them no more..

You could try give Lepsons in Gillingham a try.

I’m sure some folk have had them successfully refurbished. Fortunately mine are ok at the moment and when the tyres get changed will definitely be looking ones which have sidewalls with decent rim protection. Which raises the question about going slightly oversize as that should make the sidewalls protrude a little further.

Guess back to the Drawing board.. will have to see and find if there’s someone else out there who have done them in the past and in the know how.
Guess will have to be careful not to get them caught. Easy said than done

I’ve emailed Lepsons so will have to see what they come back with. There are plenty of engineering companies who do 5 axis milling. Let’s see if someone on here has had success, I think Phil said his had to be hand finished.

It is indeed my 507 that is for sale. It was a short lived experience however it is nice if anyone is looking for one and i have corrected a lot of things the previous owner did not do.

Cheapest 507 yet?
