CL500 respray

Stunning, looks ace !! I hope my cars paint looks that good one day. Out of interest, how much did it set you back to get all the paint sorted out in the end ? Cheers.

Yes, an amazing transformation, such a shame MB couldn't get it right in the first place! Who is your paint shop?....what a cracking price, I've paid that to have a couple of panels painted!

please disregard...

Please disregard the price request, im just a little dumb today.:D

Amazing transformation.

I'd have said that paint to that quality would have been impossible. The materials alone must have been half of that!?

Hi, It's just a small paint shop that will do whatever you want from a quick blow over to a first class respray... You don't get the car valeted afterwards and there is no tea and coffee and a snazzy waiting room.... It also helps if you bribe them with breakfast... (helps if, like me, you own a sandwich shop!!!)

Market forces.... he won't pay much rent, places up here are still very cheap, he won't pay more than minimum wage, there are that many out of work, the price he pays for paint and materials will be the lowest around as people just won't buy it if it's more....

I run a sandwich shop up here and we sell top quality produce, as much home made stuff as we can, we get flyers from places offering various products and giving the RRP... they are a joke, if we tried we wouldn't sell a thing... people just won't pay...

I've a mate with a paintshop in London and he's seen some of Mikes work and asked the price and thats exactly what he said.... "the bl@@dy materials cost more than that"

Also I made it easy for him, stripped it all off and cleaned it properly saves a lot of time, I must have spent 10-12 hours stripping and refitting

If stripping and refit is all you did, you got an absolute bargain there. Did you do the corrosion prep or just the strip and refit?

Bloody good thread that. Thank you for sharing.:thumb:

Very clean & ding free result, a credit to all involved :thumb:

Just needs a reasonably cheap 'dateless plate' on it now. ;)

Super clean car and an absolute bargain respray even if you did strip it all down yourself.

Makes it worth driving all the way up there to get something done!

Really good job. Stripping the car yourself and refitting is the way forward really. That way when you get it back you can fit em' on properly yourself.

I know you can save a bit of bob giving them a shell, but 500 quid for the job done is an absoulte bargain.

Just had the first decent drive in it, Hull to Bath... 230miles and I have to say I love it more with every mile.... did 26.2mpg as well so pleased with that...

No, just the strip and buildup, they did all the prep

When I bought the S500 in my sig stip it came with a nice number that the bloke couldn't be bothered to keep.... result for me as it's valued at £2500 it's three numbers then three letters... it will be going on as soon as I get the V5 back which the last owner sent off after he transfered his private number....

The paintshop is pretty quiet at the moment so if anyone wants any paintwork get in touch... you can do it through me if you like, don't know if I've done enough posts to get PM's? Just shout on here if not...

That's a fantastic result - still can't get over how reasonable that price is. I think this body shop may start getting even busier ;)

Looks great and with a private your putting on really will look like new...

Only being really picky the indicators in the mirrors and front smaller side light lights look dull, do they need a machine polish or source new ones to now match the rest of the 'new' look car.

The respray sounds very very cheap. Be interested to see how it lasts.

Thanks for the comments....

I see what you mean, they did machine polish them when the paintwork was done, they look better in the flesh.... the mirror repeaters are as clean as they can be and have been polished, I think they have just aged a bit... There are still jobs to do and I think they could do with a little more work, going to fit some chrome bulbs to the front indicators as well, that should brighten the front up somewhat.... there never finished are they!!!

I'm pretty sure the respray will stand the test of time, had lots of work done by them before and the quality is very good... whether MB's alloy lasts is another story. I tend to look at it as a service item.... if it starts going again then I will get it nipped in the bud and sorted straight away...

You can replace the light strip on the mirrors, they are a lot different, like the rear lights they just freshen up the car. I think £ 70.00 each from MB and they look great.

Wow the car looks mint! I couldnt believe how good it ended up looking and how cheap the respray was! Beautiful car!

Very, very nice indeed!

My local paint shop quoted me £335 for respraying just my rear bumper!
