:confused:Hi guys and girls, as the post says I need to know what I will be looking to pay for a "A" service which is due in 2100 miles.
The car is a C200 CDI Avantgarde Sport (2005), with 49,100 on the clock...

Any comments welcome...

Inchcape group now do fixed price "A" Service on a diesel C-Class for £199 which then includes 12 months complimentary RAC cover if that's any help. (BTW, the RAC cover can be transferred to a family member's vehicle for free if you don't need it.)

Sounds great! Will be giving Inchcape a call tommorow, sorry, please clarify "fixed price"?

So why not Mobilo?

Supply your own oil to bring the cost down further.

You may also be due some filter changes - auto transmission fluid changes and - maybe brake discs and pads at that mileage...so think of £199 as the starting point. Mind you - you can always get the "extras" done at an inde ..

Inchcape in Leicester this morning looked at the mileage, year, and previous services and said it will be:
A Service: £199
Auto Transmission oil & Filter: £183
Flexible coupling check: £10 WHATS THAT???
Fuel Filter: £66
Brake Fluid Change: £50

GRAND TOTAL: £508

Interesting. The A service on normal miles of 12k per year works out at 1.66p per mile.

The other items, if they are once in four years? or once in the 49k miles you have done? work out at a mere 0.63p per mile.

This fits with my experience over many years with MB I find servicing costs between 2p and 3p per mile, which is small beer compared with the total cost of running a quality car. Just a shame it comes in lumps!

My local MB dealer now offers fixed prices for the basic services: on my E220cdi estate it is £210 for the A service and £320 for the B service

ManJ do NOT go to inchcape. a Fuel filter costs £10 from the dealer and takes 1 minute to fit. They are ripping you off.

Adam... Really? Is it easy to find/do on this car? Any pointers?

What they say in their blurb is that if you already have Mobilo cover then you can transfer the RAC cover to a relative's car FOC.

I cant say for your car, but for my W202 C230K, its a 1 minute job and i'm not a mechanic of any sort.

My fuel filter is located near the differential, at the rear of the car. Its a bolt-off bolt-on job, very simple and self-intuitive

my mate needs an A service on his CLK 430 V8 convertible, 2001 auto

any ideas?
Round about £150 ish.

Spark plug changes on these are the killer on price. 16 @ £9 each (mb) and about £300 in labour . No doubt Ollies costs will be less than Mb's, as are mine.

This doesn't look bad to me - 1 minute to fit is a bit of an understatement
