De-badging method

:dk:

my c250 sports plus is de badged and has none of those and there plenty of c350 sports plus's without there badges - so this comment still remains dubious as these arent 'base' models although debagded (even the ones in the promo ads were and again werent base models) - so been debadged gives no reference to them been base models simply a consumer choice - the other bits you mention are irrelevant as the thread reference is to been debaged - not re badged with an amg sticker or all the other various bits you mention - thats a whole separate issue? if thats what your referring to?:dk:

I'm happy to accept its up to the owner:) You want to debadge, thats fine, you don't need to justify it.

On the same basis I don't need to justify why it appears "wannabe" to me.

Lol, tangible statistical surmising? Its a subjective thing to do based on personal preferences and opinions. That was just mine throwing it into the mix. I really hope no one is hoping for or expecting to find any tangible statistics regarding debadging.

Debadging/up badging discussions very often leads to strong differences in opinions being voiced. I wonder why it is such a passionate topic?

i agree just trying to understand - mines debagded - its not a base model - so what am i wanting to be? other than a guy who doesn't like the new sports plus badges??

i agree - i think generalisations will occur and happen in life - as you quite rightfully said as due to your own experience - i think especially when the generalisation is a NEGATIVE one passion usually arises from the people who obviously havent done for those reason or do not fall into line with these generalisations

Same applies when negative generalizations are applied to things other than cars.

Rather then get passionate or angry i just try to understand them or see why a person feels this should apply to me or anyone else.

Dresho - just looked at your album and you made the right decision. Great Look!

cheers savman - i was not impressed that the designers from amg and merc couldnt come up for a better 'sport' badge with the talent they have for the new sports plus - the promo images (on the computer as none were out to see when i ordered) were all debagded and looked good so opted for that on order

I've considered putting an E220CDI on the back of mine.

I enjoy the thought of doing that but am too lazy to actually do it.

I've not yet seen other cars with passenger cameraman.

Only you know what you want to be, and why. No problem, your car, your choice.

Simply something I'd not bother with.

Room for us both:thumb:

I've debadged every car I've own for no other reason than I like a clean look.

hi colin - i know that im trying to achieve a clean cosmetic look and state that as my reasons and know that is my choice - respect that its something your not bothered with - and again i hear that's your opinion - but as i have explained my perspective please explain as it intrigues me - what am i or anyone who else trying to be or wannabe in your opinion as you state you feel this way about seeing our debagded cars??

esp when we clearly dont have 'base models'?:dk:

Also de-badged every car I own including my last car which was an Evo 9 FQ360, certainly no skinny tyres and pea shooter exhaust on that one but still de-badged. Certainly split opinions on here about this but everyone has different taste. I prefer the clean, stealth look every time :)

Personally, I think the rear looks a tad - empty - when it's fully debadged, and prefer some kind of designation.

I've mentioned on dresho's mod thread that I'd like to de-badge the 'Blue Efficiency' front wing badges as I think they are at odds with a 3.5L petrol engine. Thanks for the comments answering the OP. Does anyone know if there are any 'pins' holding them on or just glue?

do agree did feel it may be a bit empty - but compared to how i imagined it to look with it on or partly on just didnt work for me - hope the experienced lads on here can help you with regards to your badge:thumb:

Debadging your car seems to me to be a statement - my car isn't what the manufacturer intended it to be. Usually (but not in your case), entry level models.

That's my opinion, right or wrong. Yours is different, right or wrong. It would be a boring place if everyone agreed about everything!

Behind a lovely white C63 at the lights the other day, de-badged,no mistaking what it was when it took off,the noise! what a dirty growl and spit,no advertising required.

Sorry mate, but debadged, quad pipes? It is easy to see how some come to a conclusion that you are trying to dress it up as a C63.

As long as you enjoy it, go for your life!

He doesnt have quads does he?

Just a question to all those that debadge. Do you declare it as a mod on your insurance?

Interesting, I wonder if I need to declare that mine has had badges put on? The original owner had the car debadged from factory and the dealer that sold it to me fitted the badges prior to placing the car for sale. So in effect my car has been modified from its factory spec?
