Does altering the clocks affect you?

I would go one step further; the whole world should be on GMT. All they have to do is adjust the time they do things according to daylight e.g. get up at 10am, work 12-8, dinner at 10, abed at 2am. Simples.:D

Aviation runs on GMT, or Zulu time as it's refered to.

Obviously information for the paying customers is in local time, but all flight plans etc are made in Z time.

Shortens the afternoon when dependent upon daylight. PITA. Why is the world run for 'morning people'?

Many years ago I worked with a guy who would use any excuse for absence/lateness. He wandered in an hour late one Monday, announcing to all that he had forgotten to put his clock back. How we all laughed.
Until I pointed out that if he had forgotten to put his clock back he would have actually been an hour early...

This was seriously wierd. Leave hotel at 08:30, arrive at work at 08:00. Leave work at 18:00, arrive at hotel at 19:30.

24 hundred hours in a day? No wonder I need a lie down at around 8.

Why can't we just stick to having the same time twice a day? We new where we were up to then.

Some years ago I made several visits to a customer in Paris, Ilinois.

Now this place was not much more than a village and the nearest hotel was in Terre Haute, Indiana, about 30 minutes east of Paris and, more importantly, in a different time zone! Indiana is on eastern time, ilinois is on central time.

This was seriously wierd. Leave hotel at 08:30, arrive at work at 08:00. Leave work at 18:00, arrive at hotel at 19:30.

We deal with the US a lot and you have to keep your wits about you when arranging conf calls as they usually change their clocks 3 weeks earlier than us in spring and a week later in autumn (fall :) ).

Microsoft Outlook Calendar figures it out but doesn't inspire confidence when it refers to BST as GMT.

I expected my SLK to auto change but it never? My CLK did :(

Not sure about SLK clocks but the forum clock appears to have gone haywire with the time change. Your post shows 10.13 pm although my watch only makes it 8.34pm even now. :dk:

Check your board settings under the User CP option to ensure that the correct Timezone is set and also that the Auto correct for DST option is selected.

Many Thanks. That worked: it was set to GMT +2 for some unfathomable reason. It was fine yesterday but must have changed overnight. Auto correct for DST was selected. Anyway, I am back on time again. :D

From a business perspective and from a safety perspective I would rather keep BST all year round.

When it gets dark people head home and the shop goes quiet, would much rather have proper trading up to 5pm.

Also, the kids coming home from school at 4.30pm in the dark is not as safe as coming home in the light, and you could argue that people concentrate less at the end of a busy day.

Let Scotland do what they prefer and we can do what we prefer.

They also say that when it stays darker longer in the mornings kids tend to get more sleep, which can only be a good thing.

Finish inspections earlier this time of year.... Need to see what I am doing.
