Don't know if you guys will be interested...

Its a shame they are leaving but lets not beg people here .....

Its their decision , up to them ......

If they can move on , so can we ...

My first few posts after joining this forum were defending my car after grief about the AMG badges on it, but I stayed ....could have left after 10 posts but didn't ...

If people want to let it bother them then fair enough , but it doesn't bother me ....

:D I looked up the definition of racism and it made me smile. Are Fords not as good as Mercedes-Benz. Do we stereo type owners of different marques into various boxes.

Are all owners of certain types of vehicle boxed into the relevant slot and then criticised for simply owning that brand of vehicle. I am not politically correct by any definition of the word, but I believe in treating EVERYONE as an equal, unless they prove to be not worthy of my respect. We have not done ourselves any favours, particularly when some of us believe this is the BEST forum EVER.

I respect anyone's opinion about liking, or disliking any type of motor vehicle, just look how butt ugly the CLS is, but some Barry Boys like it  :D

In my humble opinion some of the remarks have been totally out of order and do the authors no credit. Tilly clearly rose to the bait and might have given as good as he got, but surely his intentions were purely honourable and some of us gave him both barrels for simply posting a link that some of us really enjoyed looking at.

noun (UK OLD-FASHIONED racialism) DISAPPROVING
the belief that people's qualities are influenced by their race and that the members of other races are not as good as the members of your own, or the resulting unfair treatment of members of other races:

Mercedes-Benz vs Sierra 2006

To add some spirit to the debate :D KLP ( Who I admire greatly for his approach to the SEC and W202) could be classed in the same shoes as the Cossie owner, i.e. "barry" Lowered, tinted windows etc. I dont see anyone here doing a number on him. ANYONE who dedicates some of their life in doing something that pleases THEM should be applauded. Its all to do with personal taste. Me? I enjoy looking at what people can do. I often wish I had the funds and premisise to achieve my dream. Ok its a Ford. Wonder how many ex Ford owners are here. I used to own a Ford :) . All I could afford then. But life goes on. Yes, people have their own views. Just a pity that writting about your view cannot include tone. It would probably mean something quite different if spoken, not written. I have made posts here which I have bitterley regretted later, due to the fact that after being written and posted, sounded so wrong, thankfully no offence was taken. Having said all that I sincerley hope that this doesnt offend as it is not, in any way, intended to.

Blimey, I can't believe I've completely missed this thread:eek:

The first thing is about the original reason for this thread. I reckon the bloke may well be obsesive but you really have to admire what he's done to that car. I reckon it looks great, always wanted one when I was a teenager, and that is the best example I've seen for ages. Well done to him.

Second point is what is all this silly arguing about. We've all different tastes, so there will always be arguments but I don't see why silly little comments and snidey little negative rep points have to be left for people. If you haven't the bottle to say something for everyone to see then don't bother. I've had silly little remarks made by people about my actions etc but thankfully they have always posted it for everyone to see and I prefer it that way, to leave negative rep points like that is particularly sad.
I do hope neither Marc777 or Tilly leave but as Howard says it is their decision.

The difference is subtlety, the AMGs have it and the Sierra Cosworth doesn't. Like it or not the Cossie has an "image", no-one can deny that.

I haven't been reading this thread since the first couple of pages.

Firstly I'd like to say that the Sierra Cossie was never meant to be subtle as it was to promote Ford performance section.

Secondly I'd like to say WTF is everyone on about, grow up a bit!!!

The car is a bit too clean for me, especially with the white underside but it really is a credit to the effort put into it.

Let's remember this was an Eighties car so was built to lesser standards but will be significantly quicker due to the lower weight. 400 Bhp was really something then.

Ok, it's not an MB but for what it is it is the pinnacle.

It is true that we do sometimes slate other cars unduly because they are not MB products. I am not excusing myself from this but I know I try to be objective, not subjective.

Yes I like my MB,
Yes they are technically good cars,
Yes I also own a non MB product which gives loads more smiles per mile.

Ok everyone, handbags away, Tilly and Mark get back to posting.

Marcos should get the 2006 "best attempt at missing a thread" award... ;)!

Regarding the tone of posts: tht's what the edit button is for. Reread and stick in a few logically-places smilies. :D  :D ( )

I suppose if a Mercedes project was posted on a Ford forum, would it get the response something like 'that is a Merc, so they are snobs'?
Personally, I like what he has done to the Cossie.
That's dedication.
I have a mk1 escort mexico in a mates' garage that is 100% original, but will need some work done on it.(I have owned this car for 17 yrs)
Is this classic a 'barry' (crap word if you ask me) car too?????

Having read the complete thread on the PassionFord forum, I would politely suggest the language might be slightly more colourful ;)

The Ford Escort Mexico will always remind me of that great Spurs player Jimmy Greaves (should have stuck to what he did best) It is certainly increasing in value and becoming a bit of a classic.

That car is a legend. If you ever get the work done to it give me a call, I absolutely love those cars.
Definately not a "barry". I actually don't like that word either, just don't ever hear it other than here:confused:

It will get done.
Just been waiting for him to finish his triple size garage so I can do it.
I managed to get an original mexico gearbox (those that know anything about these will know reverse is in a different place) as mine is stuck in 2nd gear:crazy:
Got 2 original spec front wings too:bannana: :bannana:
Car is bright orange too:devil:

Mate of mine had a Mexico in the late 70s, yellow & black, great car. We drove it all the way home from the Hammersmith Odeon with just the manifold and downpipe(s?) after the entire exhaust fell off :D

It got nicked twice, and he was forever being pulled over by the Police ... stuck out like a sore thumb!

IIRC parts for it were a nightmare, seemed like hardly anything was standard.

I love those mexicos! let me know when you come round to doing it GRAV, as I still have alot of contacts in the ford world from my RS days! :)

I always preferred the RS, and am curious as to what was the difference between the two?

Nice cars and they bring back lots of happy memories,

John

IIRC the mk1 RS1600 had a DOHC engine, faster & rarer.
