E55K 04 Silver
Mercedes E55 amg | eBay

This car was for sale in East Sussex late last year for around £7,000 needed a good few bits doing to bring it up to scratch IIRC. I don't remember it having a full history either, but I might be wrong.. caveat emptor as always....

I wonder how many peeps get caught out running a e55k? i've spent around 6k in 18months just on my s211 cdi keeping it top condition. :/

If is the one im thinking about is anthracite.
Not very well loved many aftermarket wishbones and other parts fitted to it.
Cheap tyres too:fail:

535 bhp? Try asking who did the remap and new pulley and see if you get a reply. It could be true, but it could be BS...

This is a member's car guys.

And yes, it was for sale last year. There's a thread on it somewhere that I started at the time :thumb:

Wow, i spent not even 1000 on my v10 s8 in same period. Some would say big petrol engines are expensive to run....

I'm picky, such as replacing faded Xenon headlights and 3 ATF changes in 12,000 miles the list go's on pmsl

Why did you change the ATF 3 x in 12,000 miles?

It hadn't been done when I 1st got the car so had I had it done along with the filter.

Drove it about a few k then had it done gain before my trip to Austria as a precaution.

I drove the car hard whilst I was over there Autobahns, Mountains etc so had it done when I got back lol.

You never get all the old rubbish out the 1st time its done so hopefully she's all good for another 30k ;)

Fair enough
Still one service kit from MB is 130 quid
Couldn't justify owing a diesel which drained me of 6k
Each big petrol car I had never asked for nothing and 6k is a lot of fuel :-)
Every one has own ways thou

There can be lots of age related problems with the 211s. Like merc85, I've recently spent a fair bit on my 04 E500 estate. In the last 6 months I've replaced the radiator (corroded joints) and gearbox cooler pipes, corroded front brake pipes (along with pads and discs), oil level sensor, rear propshaft coupling, both rear airsprings, new subframe bushes plus routine servicing and a new battery for good measure! With a few other bits and bobs like wiper blades etc, about £4k in all. Engines aside, these cars can be money pits, so check the underside thoroughly.

Off topic, but whist the estate was in the workshop, I had to go to a funeral 200 miles away, so took my 124 cabrio out for its first run of the year. Normally sunny day use only, it rained virtually all the way and the wiper linkage seized, burning out the motor, about 50 miles from my destination, which I reached. £270 for a motor, £230 labour and two days later, I made my way back home, actually enjoying the rain. At least I've had some usage out it!

I Changed the Radiator out of precaution to as it is a 2003 (53) reg so had the old style valeo, It's very easy to run up figures like Mike/MD5 has pointed out, Non of mine have been big stuff other than the radiator wishbones etc i service it every 2,500 to 3,000 miles.

To be fair, all old cars and old MBs will need money spending on them. The upside is that at circa ten years old or more they're normally pretty cheap to buy and aren't depreciating like they did when new.

Many of these jobs are one offs, the general servicing side of things isn't too bad from my experience :)

Just a thought, but if you serviced it, when it needed servicing, and didn't change things for the hell of it, it would be a lot cheaper.

Why the hell are you servicing a 10 year old derv every 2.5k. That's frankly, mental.

I've always serviced my cars every 2.5 - 3,000 miles, Nothing has been changed for the hell of it, There were cracked bits of trim ie interior sill covers, driver's seat base trim, Small detail bits like Wiper arm nut cover's, exterior chrome trims for the bumpers as the old ones were chipped, Rubber door seals, the list is pretty big but the car is all better for it, Its a 2003 btw.

The car pretty much is now looking and driving very fresh now and i cant see costing as much next year as everything has been done.

Well there is no need to service a diesel merc every 2.5k miles. That's just silly. The fact you've always done it is worse lol.

Maybe the case but seeing i haven't had any issues with doing the above i will continue to do so for piece of mind.:thumb:
