F1 2024

If (like me) you don't subscribe to the Disney Channel, the Brawn GP film is being serialised on Nat Geographic channel which more people can access.
Set to record the 2nd instalment tonight at 9pm tonight. The first part was very factual and good, and a big step up from ant Netflix stuff.
Thanks for the heads up. Watched the first episode last night and found it "interesting" to listen to the competition outrage after Melbourne.
I did have a problem with Keanu Reeves style of interviewer, almost as if he was still in character.

Watched the rest last night. Confirmed my opinion of Bernie, a horrible little man. Brawn and Fry should have invested in the lottery with all of the luck they had that year!
John Button came out well I thought.
All in all a good watch.

Viewer discretion advised!
The Bravo person is presenting the quali highlights on Ch4 tonight.
A clear candidate for the record and fast forward option.

Keanu Reeves does characters ?? From what I have seen of his work he has just one character....Keanu Reeves . OK maybe not in 'Bill & Ted's...' But the rest is just him. :p

I honestly had never seen or heard of him prior to this film, so he was exactly what I expected form an American from outside the word of motorsport...:dk:

@HappytalkAgain will surely like the orange hue at the sharp end of the grid for tomorrow's race😁
Well. I’ve just got home from work. Quick shower, get the BBQ on then wine, goodies and qually. I’m fairly looking forward to it after reading your post. 🥳🍾🎉

(Hope you’re not pullin ma leg. 😩)

I watched it yesterday.... nothing better to do.... first time in ages. Wont be bothering again....dull as ditch water and apart from the last few laps when I thought Max might lose it its still boring and I remembered why I stopped watching it. Anyone who's a fan clearly does not watch any other sort of motor sport.
I want a race to start, be fun to watch with loads of overtaking, and be won by the fastest/most skilled car and driver driver combo......but with some degree of competition and a few different winners.... not by the team with the best race tactics, the team that, took advantage of the safety car, the team that timed its pitstops better or did them a fraction faster.... and definitely not because of team orders. Which is why I watch I lots of racing that does that..... which is not F1. BORING.

Rant over :D

That’s not a rant. Just an average post from you buddy. 😁

Clearly not a form of motorsport you find enjoyable, but there’s plenty of other stuff to watch. Local banger car track or BTCC perhaps?

BTCC, i understand is going a bit down the pan, a lot fewer cars on the grid, presumably because of escalating costs?

Lots of rule changes too

I find BTCC to be ‘posh banger cars’ anyway.

Basic driving tactics seem to come down to two options; a) park on the apex and block those behind for as long as you can or b) lob it down the inside and just spin out the guy in front. Neither appeals to me, prefer open-wheel formula racing or WEC. Have enjoyed watching rallying in the past, but there doesn’t seem to much on the box these days.

The first two days of the Monaco event have been remarkable for two things amongst my observations. Firstly, it seems that the Red Bulls have finally met a circuit where they can not dominate. There are various theories being banded about as to the reason, but I find the fact that they have a very high rate of anti- dive and anti-squat baked in to their suspension geometry very plausible. On 95% of circuits, the aero platform stability it gives them outweighs the kinematic compromise for mechanical grip which the car seems to lack on the bumpy, low speed nature of the streets of Monaco.
The other surprise is how well all the drivers are behaving! Yes, we have the inevitable broken wheel rims when brushing the barriers, but nobody has caused a red flag.....yet! :dk: Will that skill, discipline and sheer luck last today as well?
