F1 2024

I must confess that during the safety car period I was hoping for a P2 & P3 McLaren finish. Assuming Max would have Lando on the restart (which he very nearly did).

Delighted to see Lando pulling away lap by lap.

Gutted when Oscar had damage and had to pit.

As said by all, what a popular win. Great to see drivers and team principals congratulating Lando & McLaren. The Ferrari boss was even present at the wining photo celebrations spraying champagne. Nice to see. 👍👌👏

(And yes, mini hangover this morning. 😖)

It was poignant coincidence (I thought) that Jenson Button was interviewing the podium finishers this weekend.

JB went a long time before he got his first win. And then within a couple of years was heading towards being champion.

Agreed. 👍

And poor ole JB went his whole career without being on the F1 podium at Silverstone. What a travesty.

Lando defended into turn 1 on the restart really well, and that was that. Great result, some unprompted generous comments (for a change) from Max too. Some very good racing down the field too, thought Lewis was going to get Checo at one point. Pretty good race overall.

Checo had the moment of the race though as he sent it into turn one on lap one.

How on earth he and no one else hit anyone was a minor miracle.

Yep, certainly the best race in F1 that I have seen for quite some time, and some genuinely happy people in the aftermath.
Lewis, Mercedes and I still have no idea where his mega lap time came from in Q2. That is still a problem for the team. As is 'Mayhem' Magnussen.

I didn't see the race, but was this result an indication that the McLaren has been improved, or just that by a happy combination of tactics and circumstance Norris found himself on tyres so much better than the rest of the leaders that he could walk away from them?

McLaren and Norris have been on the podium enough times to be in there with the best of the rest, but he drove very well, lucked in with a SC and Max didn't have the car as he wanted.
Not a lucky win though, it was deserved and won.

Worth watching the 7 min highlights on either F1 or Sky sports You Tube channels as a minimum in this one instance.

A good race and a deserved and popular winner. More like that please.

Ans to round off a happy morning there was no Jones,Laurence or Bravo on Ch4. Just Billy and Lee so no childish histrionics, just good intelligent comments.

Hopefully the former with a bit of the latter, but most drivers have benefited one way or the other from ‘circumstance’, tactics and decisions over the years.
