F1 2024

I think Lando has a car quick enough to trouble the podium tomorrow, despite his starting position….but don’t quote me on that!
Well, nearly😏 Just one place out!
Great race, great for Papaya, and Oscar sounded still totally chilled after “ the most stressful afternoon of my life”😂

There we are Piastri! Awesome job! Much better than that stupid swap win junk the other week and you must have enjoyed it so much more.

No teammate to trip over. Much simpler awesome job. That was Alonso'esque in terms of defence against LeClerc.

How many laps did LeClerc manage to stay close to Piastri? Would that have been possible to stay so close without destroying the tyres with previous years' cars.

Who was at fault, Perez or Sainz?

When I saw it live I was sure Sainz had moved left, when I saw it from a different angle I thought Perez had maybe edged right.

Now I honestly don't know so am gonna call it a racing incident.

stewards have decides a racing incident. Both drivers could have easily avoided on a fairly wide track. An expensive stubborn mistake on both parts.

Interesting race. Clumsy stubborness from Checo and Carlos caused an unnecessary collision and exit for both, have to agree with the stewards. Oscar drove well and right to the limit and fully deserved the win. Lando on the backfoot after missing out in qualifying, drove a decent race. All to play for…

Racing incident but Perez had by far the best visibility out of the two and so I would say ought to feel more weight of responsibility for what happened. Stuff happens when racing though.
I was waiting all race for such and incident, as the track has nearly always given this sort of thing before. A racing incident, but somewhat predictable.
I would have been miles out with my prediction for Lando had it not happened....;)

Good race. I didn't think they wanted to end races with a SC or VSC. Massi didn't get the memo 😇

While Lewis made up some ground throughout the race he certainly didn't seem to be at one with the car. Lucky to get points.

Masi in'21 had (among others) Jonathan Wheatley in his ear 'ole coaching him to 'game' the safety regulations... That wouldn't have happened last weekend.

Lewis was struggling for whatever reason in Baku. MB aren't in the running for pots this year and with Lewis leaving, their focus has quite rightly shifted towards George.

GR on the podium was a gift that no one saw coming. Just to slow.

Either or either LH that was LH and yes after all these years, that's how I still see that. LH yesterday was sad to watch. The front 4 to watch was awesome. CL will be kicking himself. OP is a great driver but had LN been there he wouldn't have one. All IMO.

Apologies for grammar and spelling. On my phone in a lovely warm part of the world :-)

I was searching for a bit of information the other day and came across this compliments slip from 1985. This would turn out to be a watershed year in my motorsport life as I was to change course and start at TWR Jaguar. I had worked with Eddie for 5 years by then and was a director of his fledgling and profitable EJM alongside his London solicitor Fred Rodgers. However, it was Martin Brundle who persuaded me to take up the role of Chief Engineer at TWR. In the few years that followed, TWR would claim two wins at both Le Mans and Daytona and three World Sportscar Championships.
Eddie, meanwhile gambled everything he did (and didn't!) have on setting up Jordan GP, and becoming one of F1's most colourful characters.

Eddie and Adrian Newey my seem like and unlikely couple, but both have a great passion for F1, houses quite close together in 'Sith Ifrica' and a love of cycling. I can only imagine the width of Eddie's grin having 'sold' Adrian back to the team now occupying the slot in F1 which he founded 30 odd years ago.
And, 'made a bob or two for myself!'

I will concede that I may well have been more wealthy now if I'd stuck with Eddie, but I would not have enjoyed all the success I have with all the manufactures and teams that I have in sportscars....and maintained my integrity!
.....and I'm still in my gap year.....

When did you last use a Telex machine?!:dk:
