F1 2024

When did you last use a Telex machine?!:dk:
A good many years ago. I used to prefer them to the later new-fangled fax machines as you could ensure that someone actually looked at your message by sitting and 'dinging' the 'dinger' until they responded.
Probably didn't make many friends doing it though...

When I first worked in Corfu as a rep (1992) all of our arrivals would come through on a telex machine!!

I didn’t know exactly how it worked but it made a right old racket when it did.

^ I actually fell asleep watching this one.
No problem whatsoever for Lando and McLaren.
Still another 160 pts to play for.
Me too… Family Sunday lunch, couple of pints, boring race. I defy anyone to stay awake 🤣

Hmmm, interesting.
Do I sense Lewis isn’t happy with the team/Toto regarding the car he was given for Sundays race and the strategy that was chosen for him.
The way I see it, Mercedes don’t loose anything by not helping the departing 6 (7) times world driver champion. Aston Martin are miles behind Mercedes for 4th in the constructors championship and 3rd place isn't achievable for Mercedes, plus I’m sure they would prefer George (their No1 driver) to end the season above Lewis.
Are they throwing a stick in his spokes or am I reading too much into it?

Given the history of the race, it was a sound, if fairly bold move to start Lewis on soft tyres. But this year the unthinkable happened, there was no Safety Car!
I believe that it was rolling the dice on what appeared to be almost a certainty, but all the drivers actually behaved themselves, or when they did make small mistakes, they all got away with it.
You only have to think back to the last race to see the result of a very small error by one (or more) drivers on the outcome of the race.
Mercedes will still be pushing to earn maximum points with both drivers.

So Danny Ric didn’t actually get the fastest lap point, as he wasn’t ‘in the points’, he just made sure Norris didn’t get it.

That really does stink of collusion between the two Red Bull teams.
Given that it was probably Danny’s last F1 race, it was IMO more of a middle finger to those that consider him to be be unworthy of a seat in a competitive F1 car.

If Lando misses out on the championship by the one point that was lost, he and McLaren need to think about the points taken off him (unnecessarily IMHO) by Piastri…
