Formula One 2018 - General Thread

Another season at McLaren was probably his only realistic option in F1 next year. I guess he's had enough and wants to concentrate on the Indy 500 and maybe WEC. Can't help thinking that had he made some better choices he could have achieved even more than he did.

Damn Damn Damn!

I hope he gets the Triple Crown he is after

Let the seats merry go round commence! Spare experienced driver seat available at McLaren, also at Red Bull, what happens at Force India now Daddy owns it, will a Torro Rosso driver step up to Red Bull and leave a seat at Torro Rosso, who is Ricciardo replacing at Renault and where does he go, will Ferrari give Kimmi another season, if not who replaces him - are Williams drivers fed up with lack of performance and looking for a change??? Sure there's more to add, but let the fun commence (thankfully without LH, VB and SV being involved!!).

Not really surprised with FA's move - the past few years must be like attending a "pull your own teeth out" event. Such a shame he wasn't in a more competitive car.

Kimmi goes to McClaren and wins the 2019 WDC :D

Still has two WDCs. The clip of him being interviewed after the Hungary 2007 pitstop obstruction says a lot IMO - I think at the time he thought he had been clever. In reality his career pretty much faltered and he damaged McLaren and in particular Ron Dennis. I was astonished when McLaren took him back.

Thought Kimi had been resigned by Ferrari for next year or am I wrong?

I don't really think they want to unsettle SV. And KR doesn't seem to unsettle him.

Personally I'd like to see them take a punt on a younger driver - but SV can be a bit petulant on-track - a FA vs LH type situation would probably not be as bad as the one McLaren faced but undesirable nonetheless.

I’d like to see Kimi & Jenson back at McLaren. :D

Rumour is Sainz to McLaren, Gasly to RB and maybe a 12 month reprieve for Vandoorne.

Could his long-ish term association with Renault have anything to do with this, I wonder....

Again not a big surprise. Red Bull diver, decent little pedlar...and a seasons worth of Honda engine understanding from Toro Rosso.
I'm sure he will be an asset to the Milton Keynes team and his current status poses no threat to Verrcashem....yet!

Absolutely.

Gasly seems to have good intelligence and attitude too. Max may well have his hands full, unless by chance he has stronger contract.

And it seems some new team called Force India, or is it Racing Point, is entering the championship on nil point, and will race at Spa. Hooray!
