On the return leg of a ~ 500 mile round trip in the auto 2.5-16 I came accross a fairly eager looking 'C32'.

After a second of wondering what didn't look quite right about it, I noticed the lack of proper AMG exhaust.

Anyway, to say he was keen was an understatement, but I think he was quite surprised by the ability of a ~ 20 year old, non-badged 190E.

I think AMG body styling is ok if that's your thing, but not quite sure on the blatant false badging? :o Apologies if it belongs to a forum member, I'm only having a little fun :D

I was very impressed with how my 190E has performed on this outing, I haven't really used this one very much, but it behaved impeccably. Considering this is the car that I overhauled the cylinder head on, I was pleased with the performance and fuel consumption on this journey. Smooth, powerful, comfortable and fairly quiet too.

At 'autobahn' pace with some traffic at either end (M25 on a friday afternoon, M1 road works etc), it returned an average of just over 30mpg, which I was quite satisfied with. I am sure at a slightly more moderate pace without traffic, this would have been 35mpg+

I saw a diesel E32 AMG yesterday. A very rare model, and for the ultimate Q-car look the AMG kit had been replaced by stock bumpers.

Shame, as it was a nice car other than the comedy badging...

wonder if he wants to buy a real c32 back box with the proper AMG tips on :D

I've got one sat in my shed doing nothing :)

Owners of E320s beware. It seems this is infectious, as yesterday I saw another E32 AMG, but this time a W210, and more than 100 miles apart.

it's pretty big so if your interested I would suggest maybe looking under your car and checking the available space + taking a few measurements and getting back to me and I'll gladly measure the box to confirm it's ok :bannana: :)

Quad exhausts on your now then? Niiiice!!

Hi Rob, how ya doin.

Yep I've now got the quad pipes normally found on the C55 amg :D

I really like the look and the sound is a nice improvment aswell, but it's been a real PITA getting to the end result and rather costly too

Things are great here - hope it's the same for you.

Did you use genuine a genuine C55 exhaust then?

Did you have to remove the spare wheel well too?

Hmmm, quads, that sounds nice?

I went for the full C32 exhaust on mine, would have been tempted with a quad system. Any details of your quad setup?

as stated above; I've had the C55 system from the secondary cats back

this is actually my second setup.

My first choice was to have a custom quad exhaust made out of stainless which I had done at the end of last summer, but on completion I found the noise was

too loud,... so I took it back and had another silencer fitted but even with this it was still loud and boomy especially when cruising.

here's a couple of pics of my first setup being fitted

anyway after a few months of driving with this I decided it had to go and I ordered the C55 system to replace it

I must say it's much better now.

I still have the custom exhaust pipes along with some other bits from my car but I can't decide what to do with them

Looks like they managed to route it around the wheel tube then.

Looks great.

fine here too thanks Rob

Yep C55 exhaust which I ended up ordering from my local dealer after spending several fruitless weeks trying to locate one second hand
not cheap  but at least I got a discount :bannana:

I did have to replace the wheel well with the C55 one to make everything fit ok, that was actually the easy part compared to the rest!.

Hi Timberman - can you PM me if you still have the back box with price / condition / location etc

Thanks

Hi jasohal

would love to send PM but unfortunately due to forum rules I believe I am not able to send messages at the moment because of my rather pathetic post count :o

However I can inform you that I do still have the back box, it's in perfectly good order and I live in Nottinghamshire

as far as price, well I haven't given it much thought, but if your still interested I'm sure we can work something out :D

As for the orignal car in the picture at the start:

Date of Liability 01 09 2008
Date of First Registration 28 09 2000
Year of Manufacture 2000
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 3199CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour SILVER
Vehicle Type Approval null
The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry.

Most likely a C320, so its not so bad, at least its not a C180 :)

Anyone know if Timbermans pipes will fit my W202?

So you did the head in the end then!
