Fuel Consumption!

Hi All

I wondered if you guys can help me, recently purchased a 2000 CLK 230 convertible. I was wondering what kind of figures to expect in regards to fuel consumption? My driving is mainly around town and a and b roads.

My previous car was a 2003 VW Golf R32 and so far id say the golf was better on juice! I know the Merc is heavier and not as powerful!

Hope you can give me a realistic estimate as to what to expect

I would assume your Golf was a manual and the Merc an auto as well?

Slushes are crap on the juice.

I borrowed a C200K on a W plate once I think it was and it returned no better than my current steed - which is quite a bit different.

Depends a lot on your driving style and the journeys. Over the 10 years I had my 1999 CLK230K it averaged 28mpg. On long runs at steady high speed (>70mph) it regularly approached and once exceeded 40mpg. You won't get near that on the cabrio with the roof down though. But you will enjoy it.

Thanks for your quick responces, the golf was a manual yes. I managed 25.5 mpg earlier so its getting better. I have been using the cruise control aswell and adjusting the speed through this which helps!

I got 27.5 yesterday on a littke run with the hood down! Maybe im getting more mpg that ecpected lol

Whats your thoughts on super unleaded? I always ran the golf on this!

Mine's the standard coupe. I get 22-24 around town and 35 mpg on the motorway at approx./close to 80 mph. I've almost always used supermarket fuel(standard unleaded) on this and all my cars including diesels. Can't say if petrol station fuel's better, but I've not had any running problems.

Was that an slk 230? Smaller car as well! It is suprising, will have to see how i get on i guess!

Yea it was a 230k.. My c200k did around 320 to a tank I think!

My previous car was a MK4 R32 as well and I find the C55 AMG is pretty similar on fuel to that if you are sensible.....

My GF's brother has a W203 C200K and that is nearly as bad on fuel as the AMG, his driving style doesn't help mind lol.
