Fuel shortage?

No issues at all around here never has been apart from the t*ssers queuing up and blocking main roads.

I must have timed it just right last night. I needed to refuel both cars yesterday (going on holiday today) so I was getting twitchy.

I was really lucky though, the first fuel station had only V-Power unleaded which is exactly what I wanted. The second had petrol and diesel but once on the car park the V-Power diesel pump didn't have a queue, so I was in and out quickly.

This morning I saw lots of fuel stations with "Max £10" or "No diesel", so I was lucky...

Last night's TV reported motorists turning around and following fuel tankers to their destination. I wonder if any followed an empty one back to its depot!

Seriously though, the government's mouthing has led to national fuel shortages when none were necessary. Some governance that is. And who stands to lose most? The small businesses that are supposedly the economy's saviour.
Party political interests before the public's - shameful.

I'm following ministerial advice and keeping my tank topped up. Trouble is, by the time I get back home, I can squeeze another two quids worth in so have to return. I've been to the petrol station 7 times now since yesterday tea time. All the queuing is really beginning to hack me off. Where are all these people coming from?

The annoying part is... I need to drive a stupidly thirsty people carrier to Bristol tomorrow! Which means I'll need ~£150 of fuel... and all the stations near me are either dry, rationing or have queues stretching back hours...

Time to buy a car that will do WVO methinks...

Is it a 9 litre supercharged drag racing people carrier ? Because £150 of fuel from uxbridge to Bristol is pretty poor

and back...

so about 240 mile to get there and back. Plus some driving around there to get to the dune-buggying and paintball sites... so say about 300 miles.

This thing does about 20mpg on a motorway run, so that's about 15 gallons, or about 75 litres. At £1.4 a litre, it's about £105 - so £150 was a slight overestimate... but not by that far :p

Slight? It's nigh on 50% over the top. Are you Francis Maude perchance? :D

Still -there will be no strike so all sorted now!

50% is a good parachute :p Worst-case scenario and all that :p

Plus, if I had bought fuel from one of the touts selling it from their jerrycans, it would work out to more than £150 :p

Why have garages set up maximum limits of £15 to £20. Surely we'd all be better off with a £30 to £40 MINIMUM spend to stop the numpties putting small amounts in. If you can fit £40 worth of fuel in then you obviously need it Simples

I'm too young to remember but I'm sure this method was tried and tested during/after WW2. :)

And of course the union has now stated that there won't be any strike before Easter :)

BBC News - Fuel strike over Easter ruled out by union

Absolutely unbelieveable (in the article above)
a woman, in her 40s, was transferring petrol between containers in her kitchen because her daughter had run out of fuel.

The cooker was on and the petrol fumes ignited. The woman has been treated for her injuries at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.
