honest opinions on this colour please

Its eye catching and certainly a 'marmite' colour. If any car has to be painted this colour then a cheerfull little sportts car has to be it, cant imagine that colour on a an S class, maybe a VW Camper.

Console yourself (if you need consolling that is!) that you cant see it from the inside. Hope you enjoy it looks like loads of fun!.

I notice that the same dealer has another Boxster for sale in a very fetching shade of Pink. But unlike your jade one, there is no way you would not be able to see the colour from the inside of the car - it's everywhere!!!

somethings occured to me, women like gay men right, if i look gay in this car then it will score me points with the ladies, i lul them into a false sense of security then go for the kill :rock:
im looking forward to this car opening a whole new world for me

MB came close with beryl blue. Trust Porsche to come up with Rohypnol Green!!

I used to have an MX5 that got the usual hairdresser car comments. It was when I was discussing this with a neighbour who was also an MX5 owner he pointed out that he had never met a bird (his words) that did not like it, and he didn't drive it to impress blokes! So I would say, if your single and hetro, you should do well with it!

Personally I'd have went for a black one :D

ahem, boxster that is!

Its a c/d, and if you like it well, thats really all that matters. What anyone else thinks is their problem.

I can't understand the comment that you will attract attention, it seems relatively tame by todays range of colours available.

Just please don't buy a flip-flop colour car. It brings out a certain negativity in my thought processes. Irrational, I know!

In the words of Simon Cowel, it's a X from me, sorry.

Don't like the colour that much, yellow would be my choice for the car, but with all these cars condition is more important so if its a good example it will serve you well.

Its a well regarded car in the car magazines, and has been praised for its steering and involvement. I'd quite like Flanaia1 to come up with a better mid engined sports car that can be used every day. The boxster has been regarded as the best in its class since it came out. SLKs, Z4's, TT's, S2000s haven't been able to better it.

Stats comment is bang on the money, the Boxster always reminds you of what it's not and it's not a 911

The one I had was a good car a 3.2 S I just hated it, the drive was uninvolving almost clinical no fun whatsoever and reliability well push it hard, and the suspension linkages appear to be made out of chocolate or something very similar, coil packs blow up at random, trim falls of like a 1980's Rover, water pours in through the door seals, get the car over 70 mph on a twisty road in damp conditions and you better pack some spare underpants, twitchy would be the understatement of the year.

If you think getting keys for an MB is expensive try replacing your Boxster Key

There are a lot better 2 seater sports cars out there for the money, if you want to have fun on twisty lanes, listen to the soundtrack of a mid engined sportscar and would like to have a big grin on your face everytime you drive it, this is not the car for you.

Two words that sum it up for me Clinical & Sterile

JMHO though :)

You either had a bag of nails or I had a very good one. Saying that the OP's colour Boxster will be hard to resale - that colour normally prices the car a couple of grand below the seal grey and black ones.

Boxster is no where near the best in class ( You have to define what class it's in first) when we do Porsche Track days all the instructors fight over who is not taking the Boxster, if customers did not request it, it would not leave the garage.

Cannot be compared to SLK, Z4, TT or S2000 as they are not mid engined and I dont consider them in the same class as a Boxster.

As for better mid engined cars you can use daily, well where do I start

  1. Honda NSX
  2. Lotus Exige
  3. Lotus Esprit
  4. Audi R8
  5. Marlin 5Exi
  6. Pick any Ferrari or Lambo you want if you have the money
I might even dare to stray as far as the Lotus Elise (and thats not a nice drive either) or highly tuned MR2 Jap Imports

Bring Front or rear engined cars into the equation
  1. Porsche 911 (something the Boxster will never be)
  2. TVR (Any of the Rover V8'S)
  3. BMW Z4 (M Spec)
  4. Maserati Spyder
  5. Marcus Mantera
  6. Marcus TSO
The fact I had mine 9 days speaks volumes.

As Stats007 pointed out 996's are so cheap now why would anyone bother with a Boxster? beyond me I'm afraid

Again JMHO :)

I would define the boxsters class, as a road car which is what the vast majority of them are used for 100%, as a 2 seater convertible junior sports car. In which case I would say that, as a drivers car for weekend blasts, it kicks the teeth out of a same gen slk, z3/early4, s2000 (good engine but cr*p inside) and any nissan etc.

If you compare a boxster to a ferrari you are quite quite mental, in the way you would not compare a vectra to a c55....both front engined 4 door cars!

JMHO!

not to my taste, but hey mine's been descibed as a bit questionable!!

Think you had a good one, because the Porsche Indie next to where I work is always full of Boxsters, Mine was a one owner car but it did not like being pushed, that said engine & internals were OK just suspension and electrics that were my bug bear and the lack of involvement in the drive.

According to the Indie the problems I listed are common particularly the suspension linkage and coil packs.

It was just one of those car that when I test drove it I loved it but when I'd lived with it for a week I hated it, guess we all make mistakes:rolleyes:

I guess because they want a two seater convertable. Most of the cheap 996's are now either dogs waiting for the engine to pop with dodgy service history, plus not forgetting they will also be FHC.

I've done this debate a thousand times, heard mainly people that could not afford a Porsche tell me that the Boxster is the poor mans 911 and then drive off in their old escort! Each to thier own really but I would'nt by an early 996 due to the engine issues. Good luck to the OP as he has all this to come.....

"A".

Assuming you own a least three salons and have appeared on the panel in America's Next Top Model.

(sorry)

Saw a nice flip - flop TVR Tuscan in Shepherds Bush the other day :)

Green and Purple flip ...

It certainly stands out and is a nice colour, not really butch, but ok for a bloke. However, I think the colour is possibly a bit dated..
