1st time aged 17 at Didsbury test centre even though I forgot to use the handbrake on the three point turn.

I'd probably done enough to pass by performing a perfect unexpected emergency stop and later calmly pulling over to let a fire engine through.

At the end of the test the examiner held up the highway code and wasn't even looking at the pages containing the road signs he was asking me to identify.

When out on my first lesson, my instructor Ron Thurston said he would stick a pin in the back of my hand if I insisted on leaving it on the gear stick. And he did just that. Once was enough.
wasnt didsbury the test centre all the manchester bikers went to in the mid 60s because nobody ever failed there
 
Bike test 1st time at age 17:)
Car test 1st time at age 18:)

Bike experience really helps with road craft:thumb:
 
Passed first time when i was 19 after 8 lessons, in a Vauxhall Viva.Mind you i needed a car for the family , i was a dad at 18!
 
First time, Car and Motorcycle. (A long time ago now)
 
Passed first time at 17, one of life's important flukes......
 
As the statute of limitations has passed I can confess I was given a company car, drove for months, then drove to the Test Station, put L plates on, passed test, took plates off and drove back to the office.
 
1st time aged 22 after 21 lessons in a mini metro:owith BSM;)

I passed first time and had no lessons.

I tought myself to drive in a Robin Reliant :D (which you can drive by yourself on L plates)
 
Second time for car. Turned up in schools car the second time ;)
Second time for bike. 1st time the examiner was being examined himself by the DOT.:(

17 for both.

Glad I did the bike test then when it was £8 and took about 15 minutes.
