Yep 4ltr's which tbf is about what we got out and put back in, Also just checked and the Radiator is A Valeo unit. Which may or may not be a issue of course but its one that i will be changing when i can get to it.

722.6 + t/c should take 7.5 litres oil buddy? I had to buy 8L when mine was done.

You can do a glycol test on the fluid to see if it’s the rad

Yes bud when i next do the fluid and filter next week i'm going to collect some of the fluid that comes out and do the test. Is there any test kits available that you know of?

The test kits are around £100 bud, probably easier to get Merc to do it, apparently it’s around £70-£80 at the dealer for glycol test.

If it’s all clear just get the rad changed anyway (you know you want to :D), job done. :p

Gav, was it a MB dealership that did the change? Surely they should know that it takes more than 4l!

It's not just the radiator though, MOst of the time you will find the Associated pipework is rusted away, Feed and Return lines they join about 10" in, These are around £25 each. There a bugger to seal too lol, Im not looking forward to it but hey thats later for now i want to see how its going to behave tomorrow. :(

If only 4ltrs of ATF was used, they didn't drain the torque convertor. There isn't a drain plug for that (wasn't one on mine anyway).

My indy advised to drain the pan and refill, then drain again in a few weeks and refill again.

It's a Mb Specialist in Braintree, Under the banner of Waterhouse i believe, And of course i don't know how the conversation went with the previous owner, they may have just requested a Oil fluid and filter change not a complete flush if there is a such a thing or difference even. I've always done mine by draining then driving a hundred or so and doing it again then again with new filter, on the third time the fluid is all nice and red.

What a glorious car. Hope the box issue isn't serious, I reca on the ZF transmissions my old 5 series had that burnt smelling ATF meant the box was in need of a rebuild. On a side note, is this the engine that suffers with the oil pump seals in the sump that can cause spun crank bearings?

Don’t say that!!!! :p

I’m sure Gavs will be fine... I’m hoping at least.

Ok i was mistaken its actually the upshift presumably 1-2nd and 2nd -3rd is lumpy/abrut, for about 3 miles. Also there defiantly feels like there play in the Prop mounts on the over run as you pull up or coast down a hill.

Going to run it about abit then do another Fluid an Filter change along with said mounts, Maybe a little while as funds are a little tight just at the minute, It certainly doesn't feel broke like it did yesterday. Does seem strange that it only acts up when cold..

Well just got back 60 mile round trip inc town driving, fuel computer says 24.5 mpg Gearbox feels lovely, dam I hope it’s ok as I’ve absolutely fallen for this estate lol

Good to hear!!

Funny you should say that, Im going to have a look over the drive train pretty sure im into Drive couplings and gearbox mount feels like a little vibe on from cold through the seat at very low rpm.
