My CLS55 Stage 3 Eurocharged

You're right Ginger - cooling doesn't sound sexy but as you know better than most its probably the singular most important thing with the 55K's. I think my car has same mods as yours and I wouldn't consider further performance mods before I dealt with split cooling. The only thing I am contemplating before cooling is headers as they have no detrimental effect and if anything help a bit (well that's what I keep telling myself anyway!).

I'm interested to see how your system copes in the hotter months.

Headers:thumb: that does help cooling and is sexy:D

This is the Ice Tank we will install on Lee's C63. We have 2-3 units on the way.

I have also seen 2 x e55 running split cooling and I can assure you both struggled with temp control just like the rest of us, when it came to the dyno.

How big were the tanks? front or rear setups? What mods?

I agree running on a dyno is very stressful for these cars with the amount of heat soak generated, but in relation to the OP i think the heat has not helped to get a true picture of how his car has performed after his mods

Looks like a nice quality tank Acid, only thing is I have never been keen on losing space in my boot! That looks bigger than most I have seen or is the picture just a bit deceptive?

Chris A already has a EC Heat Exchanger, and Bosch 10 pump, and all the data logging I did in the height of the summer, always showed the temp tumble, after hard runs, if I thought split cooling was the way forward, I would had done it.

On the road I cant see why Chris would struggle with high temps especially at this time of the year, and if it was a problem I am sure Paul would had advised not to do one without the other.

Just my thoughts

As Billy has said, I have no immediate need for split cooling system as have no heating issues.

It is something I am having fitted next month as a precautionary measure

I thought you stated during your dyno runs the supercharger was running hot, what were your IAT's during the pull?

If high it will have a massive impact on bhp output

not sure what you mean? for safety the ECU safeguards the engine unless fitting the FSP which does'nt, cold air more horses.

Wow my car seems to have the least mods! I am still unsure about the change of pulleys (SC or Crank)

It is a tiny problem Simon, if you want a spare wheel that is! seem to recall Sav has no spare, my saloon is now a little ltd to storage as I have mounted the wheel on the raised storage area, above original, a bit of a pain on occasions, but your car may be a bit more versatile to stacking the luggage in, you already have more room, go on you know you want one:devil:, and you must have one!:D.

Mine comes with no spare wheel at all! I don't think many CLS's have a spare wheel, just a can of tyre goo!

We have made an under bonnet one now. Much cheaper and less intrusive.

Before the 1st Dyno run last week the car had been out for test drive therefore was hot, not dangerously hot, but enough to knock a significant amount of bhp off the figures.
If I fit the split cooling then this will take that factor away

Paul can update on IAT figures as I was too busy smoking 20/hr

Hi Ricky - Split cooling or additional cooling is something I will definitely do. I had a look at your tank at MSL tuning day and also Paul's, both very nicely done. The thing is I don't want to lose my spare and I cram stuff in every available bit of space around it below the boot floor. I Basically I'm hard to please with this as I want to keep my luggage area totally clear as I often carry quite a bit of stuff about for work and also need clear space for all my fishing gear!

I really don't drive my car very hard and don't do any racing, but just want to be sure I have the full power on tap whenever I put my foot down. I already have the larger HE, which has made a big difference, but I do notice the power does drop off a bit after a few hard pulls. I really need to understand the system better as I was thinking maybe another HE could be added in front of the main radiator. But clearly this must be folly as it would be being done by others. Please excuse my ignorance here:dk:

You have time for fishing?? :dk:

Acid showed me a nice set up under the bonnet, passenger side. Nice little space for a much smaller tank and less hassle for fitting. Have a chat :thumb:

My personnel take on the ice box, as I am sure most of the enlightened may agree, as a general on the road use, its a total waste of money, and if anyone should argue that point, to the degree that driving their car that hard on public roads to make use of this install, it will only end up with imprisonment at some point, and a bout of in the showers with 'Mr Big' at some point as well, no doubt:cool:

However, for track days, to my mind still not that useful, bar hopefully adding some weight to rear traction at least, but if Vmaxing and Santa (not that I have ever Santa'ed) its a must for these modified high BHP output SC cars, so if coming to play, get it done!:o just my pennies worth.

He's only Mr Big the first time, then it becomes a little easier

That's why I'm thinking more along the lines of additional cooling rather than some form of ice tank. I can't see me ever needing to use ice, I just want to be able to p*ss all over M5's and RS6's without having to worry about my s/c cutting out:D

Come on Billy - chime in:bannana:
