My New W209 CLK - Large Modding Project

Nice Write up Man .... Great and very clean work !!! Please if u can give details about your Complete dashboard Switchgear facelift conversion to 05+ model ....
Thanks in advance

What specifically did you need to know? :D

Butched the facelift C63 AMG rear diffuser, I needed to take 5cm out of it as the space between the Quad exhaust is smaller on a W209.

Druk kindly lent me a 3M bonding kit but didnt need it! By simply using a soldering iron, I have 'plastic welded' the sections together and the best part is that its extremely strong - nearly as strong as new infact!

Any suggestions as to what I need to fill the small trenches in with?

Incredibly strong, I can flap this about with no issues at all:

You can see the 2.5mm sections I needed to cut out in the background:

Is car body filler more likely to shrink? Would Karl be better off using an epoxy filler?

if you can drop it off to me mate (longstanton) i can fill this for you at work with a plastic potting compound i have used everyday for the past 5 years.are you painting it afterwards?

Thanks for the offer, might take you up on that!

I really need to get the rear bumper off to line it up when its not attached to the car to see whats what 1st though.

Yes will be either painting it black, or getting it carbon dipped.

Spacers fitted:

Very impressed with the look :thumb: Rears are perfectly lined up with the bodywork and overall makes the rear look more 'mean'

After: (the wheel does not stick out further than the bodywork, I tilted the camera for the photo)

Ill take more photos tomorrow :D

Since owning the car I have had a cracked/part broken Highlevel brake light. A design flaw with the W209, when you slam down the boot lid it can cause them to crack allowing water in. Around half of my LEDs in the unit had failed.

Bought a new one from MB for £63 (Trader price)

After: Nice and cystal clear
