My New W209 CLK - Large Modding Project

Looks good, how much was it?

Get yourself some facelift lights!

Replacing the old tatty one that you need to sell me? :D

lol!

Cheeky bugger
My current one is looking better than it did when I got it, thank you! :D

I could consider selling you my spare one if you're that interested..

You may want to sit down if you want a price though. After buying it, shipping it, paying bank charges (here AND there ) AND paying tax on it over here (:wallbash:), it wasn't cheap!

I already have facelift lights. My car is now 100 percent facelifted.

The carbon splitter was £600 although it can be had from eBay for a lot cheaper if you are prepared to wait.
It's easily the one thing that gets the most attention on the car and I absolutely love how it has made the rear look more aggressive.

Looking at your front bumper and the one on my 2006 "Sport" and the only difference that I can see is the "gills" on the corners? I'm guessing that on the 63, these have a function, brake cooling maybe? But on yours, they don't? Would this cause issues with a build up of air pressure behind the inner wing, or have you blanked them off / put in the ducting / something else? I just wondered if it wouldn't be cheaper / easier to get a pair of GRP vents off ebay and cut them into a standard AMG bumper? Would be even worth asking a generous owner with a 63 front bumper offering to let someone take a mold off their car maybe?? ;-)

Hi,

The front vents are a different size, your foglights are in the centre of the 2 side vents where as the '63 front bumper has them in the corners.

No problems with any pressure and anything for that matter!

Due to the total knightmare of fitting it (worse mod ive ever done) and its rareness no chance im taking mine off again ;)

It's only when you do a side-by-side comparison that I noticed the fog-lights! But actually, they are in the same place on both cars, it's the aperture that's different - yours is straight-cut immediately after the light bezel, on mine, the top line sweeps down and around the corner at a similar angle to the inner sweep. So mine appear in the middle, yours on the edge!
On yours, the sweep is missing so that the vent fits in.

And I realise that I'm just rambling here now! :-D

Yep!

I'm not sure there's enough room on yours to add side vents...

another thing! :-D

You have said about upgrading your lights for xenons?
How are you planning on fitting them? Are you going for the full auto height adjustment?
or have you considered something like THESE which would give you the LED running lights too? (I quite like them, though calling yourself "Crazy the god" seems a little.. odd! lol

I might get xenon's but its down my mod list, next up will be diffuser or turbine alloys. Everyone hates them but I like them!

Don't bother with aftermarket lights (unless made by DEPOT) as they will leak and the LEDs won't be white!

Anyone fancy swapping my AMG staggered 18" style III alloys with new rear tyres + say £100 for your 18" turbines ? :)

Bear in mind that turbine style wheels do act as a fan. Originally used on the SLR to create a vacuum under the car to increase downforce for high speed stability.

In 2 separate cases where I used them, they have been noisy and decreased mpg significantly.
Changing from 19" AMG to 20" Turbines and I lost 10mpg over 2 tanks. All motorway driving and logged using tank to tank measurements.

The other downside to any of the non lorinser or non SLR wheels is that they aren't properly sided as they should be.

Actually I've made a massive mistake, I mean the 20? Spoke ones... Not turbine doh!

As seen on the early R230 SL55? I think those look great on the 209 and really fill the arches because of the offset.

They are the ones! No one likes them due to the cleaning...!

As soon as I get hold of some of these AMG wheels, I'll be selling the 20 spoke ones:
