My W124 Works experience

Ian we have met at a few gtg's now and trough those meetings and the banter on the forum, all of the positive threads from the members that have taken there cars to you, with all the help and advise you have given to members and the attitude of nothing is to much trouble. I have the utmost respect for you, especially the way you started up your business.

I had a long chat with Nav re the problems with his car and he is very upset with what has happened, as Jay said there are always two sides of the story . I to urge you to resolve the problems with Nav you are two very well respected members.

I am sure you have already contacted Nav and have come to an amicable solution.

Hi why has this thread not been moved to Mercedes Specialist Across The UK. Come on Graham you have posted as well, use your Admin status to move it or has this been posted and left in general for maximum exposure and damaging intentions. .....Thats the place we leave good feedback or bad and thats where i would have put this thread

Read what graham has said, and it was well written. You cant sweep this under the carpet

Still in the wrong section whatever way you tart it up ;)

http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=9627 it's not me who started it ....then they should all be moved then.

Found it difficult to locate good, affordable Mercedes specialists? Find out or talk about your experiences with Mercedes specialists in your area.

My W124 Works experience.

The mere fact that this thread is still in general is very unfair and people know it, it needs to be MOVED.

At the very least only members can read this, and not the 100's per week who just visit the site, and members can make up there own minds.

Well moving it to the section that you wanted it, it will now remain there for ever to be read by members.

Had it stayed where it was it could have gone out of sight for good,(within a few days. ) for the best part where it was once Ian had answered :confused:

I don't see you objecting to every other thread in General discussions thats blatantly in the wrong section. Any particular reason you decided to have debate about moving this particular thread???

Is that because only member's should hear about the bad things?

I had a phonecall from Ian today. For the first time he has admitted liability for the issues on my vehicle, and offered a resolution.

Ian is prepared to purchase a new control unit for the ASR system from Mb at a cost of £2k. I consider myself a very fair person and to be honest i wouldn't spend that sort of money on an ECU, especially when no one will give a guarantee that the old unit is at fault. When the wiring loom is damaged the way mine was, fire damage, shorted wires, heat etc, then there can be numerous different issues than can cause the problem. Rather than waste the money, even though its not mine i believe i have come up with a very fair solution. As a resolve i am prepared to take the car to a few specialists, have the car properly diagnosed and then sourcing replacement ECUs from Germany at a cheaper cost and have Ian pay the bill which should be alot less than £2000.

I will keep you updated and will try to have the car fixed within the next 10 days

It is a real shame that it took my post to get Ian to make a simple call to me. This matter could have been resolved alot easier with a simple phonecall and apology a few months back.

Even after my first issue with Ian, i still sourced him a turbo kit for an M104, made a 6 hour round trip to collect, all FOC as this is what the forum is about. We are all on here to help each other, I will go out of the way to help others on here, many forum members will vouch for this.

I don't normally complain about things on this forum, i feel i had to give my version of events as i had no choice. If i had done nothing i firmly believe a resolve wouldn't have been reached.

I will this thread updated until the final resolution.

My point exactly, looks like people round here have a habit of shoving things under carpets.

I am very grateful to Nav for bringing this up - I thought I was the only one. I will not go into full details, but on the strength of all the recommendations here, I took my car 200 miles to 124 works for a B service and new front discs. I ended up without the car for nearly a month, a 4-figure bill, a constantly changing story about what had occurred, a lot of remedial work which I've had to do myself, and a car that still doesn't run as well as it did before.
I have felt unable to post about this due to the weight of support on the forum for 124 works.
I feel that if satisfied customers are permitted to sing the praises of a particular garage, and to promote it's services openly, then it's important to get a balanced view, in order to help members make an informed opinion about who they should entrust their car to.

We're not alone if its any consilation to you. I do thank you for posting your side of events, this is the whole point of having a forum to openly discuss the good and the bad.

Judging by the response of certain members on here i can see why people don't want to post about a topic like this.

I am never afraid to share an opinion, afterall that is why we are here (well some of us).

If you post the part numbers-- MB and Bosch for the ASR control unit maybe forum members can help to source a unit for you??
I have always found these guys very helpful and they have good English language skills. If they can't help maybe they can suggest someone who can? try contacting this guy--
