My W124 Works experience

I suspect the initial repair took a lot longer than anticipated as a result of this (and maybe a few other reasons) and that the car was being worked on on a driveway on jack/ramps etc without power tools.
This always hampers a repair.

If i had been made aware from the start about the potential cost instead of a "couple of hours" i would have had the car towed or a local garage do the work.

Well you said it...just hope that you are all happy you all got what you wanted ....

and running to admin to report a thread.

some people want to stick the knife in and twist it ... and go on thanking each other in the process like a bunch of school kids ...you need to be ashamed of yourselves... i make a point of how unfair and unjust it was next time there's a hanging I'll bring mi knitting .....kangaroo court or what

As a matter of fact, this thread reflects well on Nav (he is showing a restraint that I would be incapable of), and now also on Ian (he has decided to "do the right thing" - even though he needed to be chided into it, it does take a big man to put things right, and it's harder than most people realise).

The only person this thread reflects badly on is you, mark.t.

Well, it's been a long thread to read, and I have read it a couple of times.

Nav seems to have presented a clear and well considered description of the problems he has encountered, certainly not a rant, and I for one feel bad for him. It's obvious he takes great pride, time and money in taking care of his cars, and one of them is 'wounded', so there is no wonder he isn't happy.

There are always two sides to every story, but as my parents always said 'actions speak louder than words' and given Ian's offer to replace the ECU, Nav's response seems very measured and fair, and hopefully will end up sorting out the problem and cost Ian a lot less than the dealer price for a new ECU.

I have seen my fair share of rants and public arguments over on www.mazdarotaryclub.com , they never do much good and it was nice to see a clear explanation of a grievance rather than someone throwing stones.

Nav, I hope you get your car sorted soon, I know how I would feel in the same situation, and it would gnaw at me until I got it right again.

Ian, sometimes you have to take the good with the bad, I respect you for not wanting to debate this in public, and commend your latest attempt to resolve the dispute. I am sure your actions with other people's cars will speak louder than words, and I hope you prosper and learn from all of this.

If what your trying to say is that negative reviews should not be posted because it could effect somebody's livelihood then that's not only ridiculous but totally irrelevant.

Provide good service and get a good review, provide pants service and get a bad review, it's a fact of life and if your self-employed you should be prepared to accept it or better yet provide a good service and always fix mistakes and you wont get bad reviews in the first place.

I really hope this does not effect Ian's livelihood but i do hope he will learn from it.

no i am not ,negative reviews should be posted ...you no listen .... it was posted in the wrong section for all to see ...members and non members ... but it was used a a lever for some outstanding issues, the forum was used as a lever in this specific case, which i believe to be wrong ..

What are you doing to KLP then, you have not seen his side of things once, and you do not even know the man

I have seen and so has everyone else who visited the thread, i am in no ones corner .... i believe it was posted there and done deliberty for the intention of trying to ruin a reputation in order to get what they believe to be right nothing more nothing less, Television playing devils advocate does not suit you

Thank you everyone for your comments, good and bad.

Yes I was wrong. I spoke with him today to find a resolve on the issue. I have admitted liability and am quite prepared to have the issue resolved irrespective of cost. Nav is a fair person and deserves better than I have acted. A lesson well learnt. I trust what we have discussed will result in a success story rather than a tail of woe.

Nice one, good man.

Live and learn right.

and getting your mate to put the boot in as well.

Would you let someone take parts from your engine off with an angle grinder?

I was the one stuck in the middle of nowhere with the groom in the car when the crank pulley fell off, again. I then missed the wedding, as I had to wait for recovery.

The way you should be looking at it is, look what it took for a resolution to be put on the table.
By continuing to post in the manner to are, you are unecessarily imflaming the situation.

your opinion which is worthless to me, but a cheap backhander at the end of your post, you are as shallow as the as the dig you make .....

Sadly this this thread hurts me as I know them both.

What I do know is from being involved in a press issue and a bad comment printed about a huge UK firm, if you say nothing then anything can happen, the accused should have given at the beginning an answer. when this is not done it can quickly go off into 6 sides and it has thanks to you by not adding any usefull help, only comments about other people

Its nice of you to show your true colours and have left a lasting impression on the forum. Good work mate.

the way i look at it is like this ...you both need to grow up ...and now you have what you want you want me to stop posting OMG you two are a double act, run out shout get what you want then bugger off and try to blame someone else for unnecessarily inflaming the situation ..... priceless.. the only thing that was unnecessary was the first post.

If you had seen Navs two cars at the meet you would never judge him, they are the 2 most beautifully kept cars that I have ever seen and are in every day use.

So its OK to talk about other indies, but not this one, what are you made of, you have lost out on this, you cant take on the world, back off and get real, you are in the wrong and the thread has doubled since your posting in this matter.

Thanks, i did put a post up earler stating our conversation.

Thanks again for the kind words, its a shame this issue couldn't resolved a few months back; at worse yesterday. I really tried my very best not to post this on here.

Its a learning curve especially with a new business. Mistakes are always made, next time resolve them promptly and keep the customer informed.

Way off beam on this one......

First lesson of business......if you **** up ( and yes it does happen), inform the customer, keep them in the picture, let them know whats going on, don't avoid their phone calls and resolve the issue quickly....takes the heat out of the fire rather than adding to it.

Are you the sleeping partner in W124 Works by any chance??

Mark T, I have alot more respect for Ian than you. It takes a "MAN" to admit when he's wrong.

If you had just waited for Ian to respond, you wouldn't have made such a prat of yourself in public on numerous occasions today.

From Ian's post today, its clear he is a "MAN" of integrity and can clearly doesn't need people like you to defend him especially when you make the situation worse. Its clear from the responses you have from other members that your opinions are unsubstantiated and inflammatory.

I really hope i do not have the pleasure to meet you in person.

Can we call this a day. Nothing posted in future is going to make anyone feel any better. I have faced up. Nav has accepted an agreement. End of.

mark, its not your problem mate, the ppl who have had the problem are sorting it, so why are you trying to create a new one? chill out and let the people with the problem sort it out.

Agree with Ian....Kill the thread...enough is enough.
