She's missing out! My GF seems to like going to the NW GTGs because she gets to have a gossip with the other halves of the other members (some of whom are also members!).

The best thing about GTGs is that we're all like-minded and although the conversations tend to be pretty car-heavy they don't have to be and often wander off to all kinds of subjects!

believe me, i've tried. it doesnt work  i think if there was loads of other halves going then maybe i could encourage her to go. i can understand where she is coming from though as its like me attending a motorbike show or something - i just have no interest in them. Also, on the flip side, if she isnt there it means i can just chat away about mercs and other stuff without having to worry whether she is bored etc. with the scottish meets i tell her that i'm not around on saturday. means dont have to worry about anything apart from enjoying the meet. :D also if she does come it creates childcare issues that need solving aswell.....

OK just a dinner then :thumb: maybe with a professional after dinner speaker who knows about MB's? Then it caters for singles or people wishing to bring partners.

Bit more food for thought?

I could be tempted.

But it will have to wait until the new car arrives.

And I need a bit of notice to book ferries and stuff and rope it in with a visit back to the family and that kind of nonesense.

would suit me if it was booked in a place that had rooms to stay in afterwards.

What about a meet in the day and then something like the "Black Tie and Pie" event in the evening like the one that that Pistonheads have? (sorry to mention PH) at a hotel in the Midlands. I organise an annual event for a engineering society I am involved with and it works well and I have some great 24hour deals with hotels all over the country.

Maybe we can have a "No tie and don't be shy event" organise a dinner / dance and bring our other halves or am I just being too ambitious?

I'll throw my hat into the ring and say I'm willing to help organise if the mods and admin think its a runner.

Would be good to do something that involves all of us :bannana:

I would be up for that.

Be nice to put some faces to names... I did a few meets back in my Renault days but that was all a bit to boy racer for me, i would like to think of myself as an enthusiast these days lol!

One of my fathers petrol/service stations is right opposite RAF Cosford, just before Telford of the M54, if this is of any interest..

We just redeveloped the site, new 16 pump forecourt, a budgens superstore on site, and axcillary parking for upto 20 cars on the periphery, and the neighbouring property we have... might be usable if numbers are averages, but if we expect 50+, then maybe its a no no... but its a suggestion anyhow!

Jays place is pretty central ..... but unfair to ask him to do this without some sort of firm commitment to help with the financials...

Hi to all as i haven't posted for a while due to two new puppies. I will show you all some pics as soon as i have five to post them. When i was a member of the Ferrari club, every christmas we went to the same hotel around the same date all stayed for the night most staying for two. Having our own dining room for our evening meal with the main guys giving a speach when they are drunk. So informal it worked. We all met around midday had a drink and a chat in the bar welcoming all as they arrive, then all change for the evening meal and off you go. By the end off the night everyone is full, tipsy and dancing with someone whey didnt know 6 hours earlier. It doesn't matter what backround you are from, rich or poor you will find that generally we will all find something to talk about if you are a nice person. If we didnt have similar interests we wouldnt be on here. I was single and 21 when i went to the ferrari events socialising with company directors and solicitors. The first one i went to i took a 17 year old girl that worked in the job center, the second year i took a waitress and the third a medical student. They all had fun. What i am trying to say is it doesn't mater what your interests are bring your wife and i promise she will have a good time. The youngest member age wise to me was at least ten years my senior, but we all started with something in common, the forum. I cant wait for something to happen. Bank holidays are a good one as it gives you a long weekend. Event on the Saturday, day with the wife away Sunday, travel back Monday, work Tuesday. With the Ferrari thing it wasn't a bring the car thing as we had meetings through the year every three months or so but i would suggest that we meet in a pub with large grounds and a beer garden so all the cars can be viewed. Or even better the same hotel as the evening event so we dont have to drive after. As for a location go for a post code of cf31 so i dont have to travel to far. Only joking i think as others have said Birmingham would be a good area to base things as it is about as central as it gets. If you take the journey from the south west across the 7 bridge and scotland down its about half way. Wherever lets do something it would be good to meet you all. Take care and see you all soon.

P.S. it sounds like all i want to do is get drunk. well is there anything else.

The centre of the UK is actually Wakefield in West Yorkshire. So I guess central would be a 20 - 25 mile radius of that?

Nav's GTG last year was good, but there were only 2x other W202s. I felt lonely. I need another W202 geeks to moan/praise our Mercs

Personally I don't mind.

The trip to Jays is exactly 100, miles from where I live.

If you are driving a Mercedes it shouldn't matter where the eventual venue is. ;)

If you want *anyone* from the south to turn up, the venue needs to be much further south.

Otherwise it will be just as it always is, loads of people putting their names down, but then almost everyone dropping out a in the week before.
