New Car Order - Must be Mad

As others have questioned and ordered a C63 I thought I'd join in again...

I have just ordered one (well January actually) as I really miss my 08 C63... It's the first car I've ever ordered a second time....

The first C63 was special in that there were very few of them about at that time and I had to wait over 9 months from date of order.

The new one I ordered end of January and will be at the dealer around the 9th March.

I did not want to spec up and pay too much so I've gone for the standard saloon on a business contract hire (which you can get privately if required). the car will cost £457.49 plus VAT with a deposit of £2744.94 plus VAT. 20k miles over 2 years.

I wanted it as cheap as I possibly could and this was for me the best deal I could find. However I do know some dealers can beat it but too late for me.

As this is a contract hire I have fixed price ownership for 24 months and the colour choice is not a concern as I don't have to re-sell it as I did with my original car.
So the spec is:

Fire Opal Red
AMG Porcelain/Black Seats

That was the only choices I had to keep the car at the standard rate. I did have the free choice of metallic paint but went for the red, apparently its in this year...

It comes with Comand too. :thumb:

Looking around I thought I would go with a C350 cdi as the reports are very good. So I tried one at Hemmel, 3 months old 2-3K miles £31000.00. Great car but just not enough to justify £500 per month, even on a contract hire it was over £600.

So sod it I went for the AMG...:thumb:

We currently have a 2 year old MX-5 just about to end it's contract and will replace it with the C63 at a cost just over £100 per month more, as for insurance its £160 per year more too. If anyone is interested in the MX-5 it's the one with the hard top roof (roadster) and is a fantastic fun car, it looks fabulous fun to drive and fairly nippy to boot, however as we have just become Grand Parents so we have chosen a more practical  car to get around in.... I will still have my passat which again is still a great car and my big old van to get around in.

Looking forward to the delivery and meeting up with old friends at PCS in May.

Mark

Very nice Mark!!!!.... I've never seen one in red but can imagine it will look stunning. Good for you.

Great car, great colour Mark, but I'm missing something here.

I'm not familiar with any form of leasing :dk:.

I hate reading these posts because I've still got 9 weeks to wait til I get mine! And you get yours in 10 days!!
Seriously though it is confidence inspiring for me that this will be your second. The first was obviously good enough to make you want to go back for more.
Enjoy!

Thanks guys, I'll be giving you a shout Steve when I need to clean it up...;). Seven, I'm not sure what options you specked but maybe this has a bearing on delivery as mine is more or less standard and was/is more than likley just waiting in the compound pre-built last year!!

Developer215 :thumb:, I bought nearly all my previous cars but after having an Audi A4 cab then an MX-5 on contract hire I just find it easier and possibly better financially to get this one in this way. ;)

When I got my last C class I had some good tips from the forum, are there any recommendations with regard to comand updates? I have for my sins an iPhone4 and have read a few comments on incompatibility with comand is this still the case?

Thanks all
Mark

Mark, if you drop the car off in Scotland, fly back down, leave it with me for the weekend and a few days, I will have it spotless and return it back to you.

It will be washed, clayed, polished, then waxed. I will do this free, just leave £300 in cash in the glove box for fuel, and I will do the rest ;)

Mark

Mine is fairly standard - no pp or carbon etc but is an estate. I believe they only build these in small batches.

Do you hand it back after 2 years?

^

Usually on lease deals there is a deposit 3 plus 24months so say something £100 a month it would be £300 deposit then 24 months at £100 month.

Total £2400 plus 300 = £2700 then you hand the car back and walk away.

The C63 has a slighty higher deposit of 6 plus 24 (probably as a 24 month term and not a 36 month one)

So deposit is £2744.94 (the 6 bit) then 24 payments of £457.49 plus VAT

So total £13724.70 plus vat over two years.

Probably less than buying it outright or at least the same but no hassle selling it or if petrol goes to £10 a gallon...

I've heared some lease companies can sting you when it goes back though for marks on wheels, scratches etc so be wary of this. I think you can get insurance against that. In my mind thats general use as long as not abused?

It will be 3+23 or 6+23 not 24 payments. Although some prices are advertised as 6x deposit to get a lower monthly price most if not all companies will give you a 3x quote which works out the same overall.

Looking forward to seeing the car at the GTG Mark! I did consider one of these deals but the running costs, petrol and tyres mainly, put me off.

It makes a lot of sense. Before I bought my C270, I had a BMW 535d Touring bought at 9 months old. I paid £36,000 for it and just two years later, I struggled to get £20,500 for it. Ouch. And it wasn't even new!

Always bought my cars as I just prefer ownership as you can get out any time. But the latest 'rental' deals do make you consider the options..... Enjoy the C63, awesome car.

Seven, you could be right in that the estate would take longer. The wait just adds to the excitement....:(

Thanks A210, as Richard says its a 6 x 23 payment, but I have the car for 24 months. I took this as I had some cash for the deposit and preferred the lower monthly as generally I try to avoid any finance deals.

Hi Richard, looking forward to casting my eye over your car too and all the others. :thumb: Where was it we last met? Was it at Gaydon? With Steve or at Jay's.... blimey it seems so long ago. Pity Jason isn't coming down I still remember 2003 at Maff's place with my old C32....How are you buddy?

Geoff, Thanks, and I think you know where I'm coming from on this...:thumb:

Congrats i have not long sold my fourth c63 and will be back in one soon.

Mark, souds nice. A deal like this can lierate you from silver/black when worrying about residuals! Fire Opal is stunning.

if you don't mind e asking which dealer/broker are you using, and which could do it cheaper?

Yes same as bobby dazzler and would like to know where you getting car from and did you find a merc dealer to match your quote?

I have found Freedom contracts quite cheap for contract hire, i.e £521.98 inc vat with a £3131.88 deposi over two years for the estate.

My Merc dealer have quoted me £702 incl vat with a £2106 deposit over three years for the estate.

Anyone else got any good finance deals on a new C63?

My local Merc dealer have also quoted me £5995 deposit and £599 a month over three years on a PCP for new C63 estate.

Check whether Freedom actually have the cars! Quite often(apparently)they don't or 'have just done the deal on the last one at that price' or so I have read. But then again don't believe all you read!

Hi . I have contacted them and the car would be a factory order to my spec around 18 weeks they are saying for delivery.

Yes it's from Freedom.

I had the offer from them and was asked to pick a colour, so went into MB dealer near me and chose the Red. Got caught by the salesman I knew very well and asked what I was up to so I fessed up and explained I'd bought a contract hire car. After a week of messing about it seems the dealer could beat the deal by about £20 per month but by then I had lost my 7 day cooling off period and would have been left with a £1000 termination fee from Freedom so make sure when you sign you mean it!!!

Any way I am more than happy with the deal done and Freedom have been great in keeping me informed of delivery dates by calling at least once every week. :)

Bobby, your right I don't think I would have gone red if I had to re-sell it...:o

Anyway, good news is it's ready for delivery on the 5th March  but being the mad muppet I am I thought it best to hold of until the beginning of April....:wallbash: I don't want another car on the drive as the Mazda doesn't go back until beginning of May, I can't believe how quick this car has arrived....hope it's not in the dealers showroom!!!

If anyone is in Exeter or in the Exeter MB dealership which I think is the supplying dealer go and have a look for me....:o!!!

v2cjb, keep plugging away, you know after a few weeks what will be right for you. ;) I'm sure seven will keep you updated.
