I swapped mine when I first bought my C32, but I swapped it for another original part.

At the time I was told by the dealer that the knob and gaitor are one unit, and when I got my replacement it didn't look like it would come apart.

I decided to ask the dealer to do it when it went in for service or warranty work, and it took them seconds.

That looks like a non-original part and so you may need to butcher your existing unit to get the gaitor off it, and attach to the new one.

Its is a not standard part. Got it from ebay, starting to wish I hadn't now.

If you don't mind me asking how much it your knob cost from the MB?

Dealer price for an OEM knob from a dealer was £175 IIRC.

One happened to come up on ebay which was in as new condition (but secondhand) whilst I was umming and ahhing. I took a chance on the basis I could sell it on if not up to scratch. Seen a few apear on ebay since - bit of a waiting game.

This was some years ago - I suspect there are more available now as people swap them for aftermarket or cars are broken for parts - but by the same token few will be in better condition than your own.

When IBW changed my knob for me he had to undo all sorts of things first to get the proper access.
