Mud wrestling..??

Just another reminder for this weeks show:

First up, Jeremy renews the age-old Subaru/Mitsubishi battle - fought for many centuries across the supermarket car parks and high streets of the Home Counties - by pitting the Evo X against the new and suspiciously hatch-like Impreza STi. Who's your money on?

After last week's spectacular failure, Top Gear Stuntman is back and attempting to replicate a classic James Bond stunt. And no, it's not the one where that Russian bird crushes the bald man to death with her thighs.

Having deposited several hundred kilos of rubber on Manchester Airport's runway last season with the BMW M5 and Merc E63 AMG, we're heading to pastures hillier to test the latest German monster, the Audi RS6 Avant. The slopes of the Alps, to be specific, where Richard tries to outpace some men on skis with the use of bad French.

Oh, and speaking of German monsters, Jeremy has finally convinced Merc to let him put the awesome CLK Black around the test track. We think he likes it.

Also taking to our test track are this week's Stars In Our Reasonably Priced Car: the Spooks-tastic duo of Rupert Penry-Jones and Peter Firth. Yes, it's two for the price of one again... with added spy powers.

And, as if all that wasn't enough, a charred, blackened friend makes a welcome return from the burns ward. Yes, the Cool Wall is back!

We'll bring you more pre-show build-up right here on TopGear.com, but for now make sure you clear your diary and arrange the takeaway menus into a neat pile next to the telly. Top Gear is back on BBC2 this Sunday at 8pm. Be there.

Python leaves me cold, I just don't find it funny.

I loved it to death when first shown. Yet when they did a rerun a year or two ago I was so looking forward to it - but it fell (IMHO) totally flat. Guess it was a product of it's time really

Yeah, seemed more like a promo video than a review though. Even the camera shots looked like the one from the AMG website.

I saw one of the BS CLK63s at the ring in May, it sounded absolutely animal. I think he got it spot it on that the idea is not a pure track car (e.g., Evo X) but it has more edge than the cruiser/GT car. Definitely allows a good distinction for it over the SL63s.

Now, where is that lottery ticket :)

Another funny episode coming up today.

Please, please let me be the first to mention it.

Bentley Brookland
Perfect super coupe for someone who has gout!!!!    :D :D :D

Now who do I know that might fit the bill?

Regards
John

Too tasteful for them, they have the conti GT for them.

Interesting thread about TG and the way they obtain classic cars for the series...

"hell what have they done, that was a mint 75 the bbc promised me they would not do anything silly to it just track day it. still i guess its just needs a respray not as bad as crashing it . but I am pretty gutted none the less I was really hacked off at first when I saw the picture this morning but I'm calming down n a bit now."

Thanks for posting the link to a very nice forum but I don't see what the previous owner is moaning about. They sold the car for a thousand pounds! They sold it. The thing was no longer their property and if Top Gear wanted to turn that car into a Rubic Cube then surely it was their property to do with what they wanted?

I can understand the forum being upset at the way their marque was treated and sadly that IS Top Gear. Just look at how older Mercedes have suffered.

Thanks again
John

How much did Clarckson say on the show he paid for it? Can't recall, but I thought it was way below £1k (which accoridng to the Alfa site was what was paid?)

Edit: David beat me to it!

He didn't said, but did mentioned under £1K. According to the alfa website £1K. Can view iPlayer to confirm to those interested. I remember James May did said £950 for his red alfa.

Pathetic "Some Mother do have them" lunatic motoring presenters, that why the show is so popular.

He did say, the figure was £450, obviously to enable him to win the challenge.. ;)

I sometimes think these people expect topgear not to trash a cheap car - a little naive I think.

I love the posts later on "just needs a respray"... and some bearings, an exhaust, whatever , and I bet it's rusted through after they scraped the side across the gravel with the towtruck...

Lying on the side was phoney, deliberate push over the side.

KingAlfa75 got tickets for the show.

If I had a cheap, worn out car I would be happy to sell it to TG for £1k and watch it get trashed on the show..

The car was a bit of a nail anyway.
