Nice Rosberg.. Deliberate?

Correct. So why would CW have made his move now. Probably because he has heard the I broadcast messages to NR telling him to allow LH through at the chicane. Most in the know are sure that is what happened.

Like who? Outside of Jackie Stewart I haven't heard anyone 'in the know' even suggest that might be credible and plenty more saying exactly the opposite.

Say what you like about Lewis, but he wouldn't want to win that way. Remember he asked McLaren not to protest the BMW fuel in 2007 saying he only wanted to win fairly on the track.

And if Mercedes were going to orchestrate something like that a botched pitstop would be a heck of a lot easier.

Isn't it a team sport? I think the team should be able to tell the drivers what to do and who to let past.

Remember Dave Richards standing in the road (trying) to slow Colin McRae in WRC?

Agreed! The trouble with bans on things like this is it's all great until someone breaks the rules and then the rule is simply abolished. Remember the no team orders rule, then poor Felipe Massa is told to get out of the way of Alonso ('Fernando is faster than you, do you understand?, Good lad.... sorry!'), Ferrari get a slap on the wrist and the rule is removed!

As soon as someone receives a coded instruction on how to drive the car this whole thing will start again. Stop making silly rules and get on with it!

Did anyone see Formula E and the amazing last lap crash?

Yep, trouble is that was the only excitement, but it is early days. I think they need a different style of track more suited to the cars.

formula E will not be going in my planner!

My first thought as well - but then .....

If you'd never seen F1 before then how many races over the last decade would have caused the same initial reaction. Rather too many I suspect.

It's predictable that some teams are using the spectre of "safety" to argue against the ban on certain radio comm's.

One example they are getting hot under the collar about is the ban on providing information on brake wear and/or temperature. The problem is that in pursuit of the last thousandths of a second, F1 constructors run items such as brakes absolutely on the limit with no safety margin to speak of, so I really can foresee that there could indeed be an issue stemming from the ban on giving the driver that sort of information, as the change has been introduced mid-season.

So why wasn't the change made for next season? At least that would give everyone the opportunity to plan for it and decide how best to mitigate any new risks that it creates. After all, MOTO GP riders manage perfectly well without pit to rider comm's (other than a pit board) and the chances of them getting hurt through mechanical failure must rate as higher than the risk to an F1 driver.

Hopefully the ban will produce more overtaking as drivers will have to act far more on their own instincts. They already know the difference between a qualifying lap, an hard race lap and a 'bring the car home' lap.

Who knows, the best drivers may finish nearer the front when left to their own devices.

At the speeds they are travelling at any move to make them more dependent on reading data from dash/steering wheel is absurd. Also, if reliability suffers - so will the racing.

I think you could un code NR's radio.

Nico can you drive through the chicane making it look like a drive through please. You know. No heavy braking or steering action. Just keep it it nice and smooth. Oh while you are in there LH will toddle past you. Ok cheers Nico.

Presumably pit boards will still be allowed?

For this w/e at least the momentum has swung to LH. The fans, the team and his performance are all in his favour for now.

What a difference 2 races make. LH now in the lead by 3 points.

5 races and 150 points still remaining though.

He drove an immaculate race today. Very pleased for him.

Yep he drove exceptionally well today. The way he pulled away after the safety car came in was impressive.
That merc is very good this year!
