7 cars in 46 years:

1. Austin A40 - 1969 to 1972, 35k
2. Ford Cortina 1500 Super automatic - 1972 to 1982, 110k
3. Morris Marina 1.3 DL - 1982 to 1986, 32k
4. Rover 216 - 1986 to 1992, 76k
5. Rover Montego DSL - 1992 to 2002, 182k
6. Peugeot 406 Lx HDi - 2002 to 2015, 90k
7. MB B200 CDI Exec Auto - 2015 ->, 4k

From my very first car I've done all my own servicing. Now with the B that may not be possible. so I'm glad I've got the 3 years free servicing deal.

Had an Audi 90 for 11 years, E240 W210 for 12.5 years with FMBSH so only two (main) cars in over 23 years. German cars are so solid. For some reason they didn't need exhausts.

Prior to that French pug 205 lasted only 1 year as I destroyed the gearbox twice while revving and British Metro lasted 2 years, and again gearbox died and other mechanical problems. Also had two full exhausts installed, but that could have been a young naive me being ripped off by Kwikfit!!!

20 cars in 42 years of driving so averaging 2 years per car, longest was 4 years ( not counting my classic which I've owned for 10 years). Usually consistent in that I'll keep each car for a minimum of 18 months, try to buy low miles one owner cars.

Change our daily drivers every three years. By which time mine has 60k - 80k on and SWMBO's has 10k - 12k on.

Due to the fact i average 22k miles a year i tend to change cars at least every 10 months, in fact my current car (MK6 Golf GTD) was listed on Autotrader this morning after 10 months of ownership. Nothing wrong with it, just fancy a change. Say maybe a 2013 C220 AMG.........

Used to be about 6 months until the Merc, having this 3 years because of finance, and not regretting it. I'm just over a year in and still like it very much.

havn't had that many cars in the 36 years of having a full license but my last car ( rover 75 ) ive had for 9 years, but ive had countless bikes in that time.

Looks like I'm in the average 2-4 years, although I've had one a fair bit longer and others much, much shorter!

3-6 months usually. Had C63 6 months and getting itchy feet.

No option for me? Lifetime average for my own cars is 8 years but the last two cars are 13 and 14 years from new! So the GLC due in June should still be in service in 2031 if the trend continues- it will be interesting to see how much of all this fancy technology is still working then.

Based on the C350e problems on here I wouldn't count on it 1 week after collecting :D

Coming up to 4 years in August the longest I've ever kept a car.

Couple of years for me, after that no matter how hard I try, resistance is futile :)

I never buy a car with the intention of keeping it for a set amount of time.
I pick the one I like and keep it.

Had mine for 7 years now.
