1-2 Years for me a few reasons Boredom, Kids & Business.

Roughly 3-4 years.

By that time mileage is getting on for 70-80k as usually buy at around 1 year old with as low mileage as I can find. That way I hope I avoid paying out for any major repairs etc.

Don't get me wrong would love to be able to afford to swap every 1-2 years and have a car with full warranty!

First car brought 2 1/2 years ago.

1. Skoda estelle
2. Skoda estelle (not on the road)
3. Volvo v70 tdi
4. Mk2 VW polo
5. Ford Explorer (ABSOLUTE PIECE OF CRAP)
6. Jag XJ6 (not on the road)
7. Pug 307
8. '46 Morris 8 (still own)
9. e320 cdi

So... 7 "ON THE ROAD" cars in 2 1/2 years = roughly average of 4-5 months of ownership.

But ive had the peugeot for a year. Im getting better.

Average is 5 months, Longest has been 12 months, stopped counting at around 40 cars, and that was a long time ago, not proud of it, as its cost me tons of money over the years, but I have gotten to own and drive the cars I liked at the time, and normally find an excuse however small to move to a new car, I have no plans to change at the moment, and no car in mind that I want to own, I don't do the miles now so really it more a toy than a daily drive.

I restore cars from shell up, every one I do will be 'the one, the keeper' - they normally take 1 - 3 years to restore and once restored, I typically I keep them less then 12 months.
(There's a 16V MK2 Golf GTI in the shed at the moment)

Whilst I'm building them I buy a scrapper with tax and ticket, typical budget £200, I run them until they fail an MOT.
I get through a lot of less-than-mediocre cars.

However, when I do finally buy my classic Merc, it'll be 'the one' ;)

Problem is, there are so many cars from my childhood on my 'bucket' list

15 cars in some 26 years for me - just think about all the money i could have saved!!

Car 1: 1.33 years
Car 2: less than a year :(
Car 3: three years
Car 4: eight years

I think I'm losing track of cars I owned:

1. 6 months, stolen
2. 6 months, stolen
3. 14 months, sold and always regretted it
4. 3 months, at the same time as 3rd, same model
5. almost 3 years, sold before moving to UK
6. 2 years, the same model as 5th
7. almost 3 years
8. 3,5 years, classic car kept mainly in garage, still own it, same model as 2nd and 3rd
9. current one to be kept for 2 years as it's leased
10. on a way, 2 years lease

I don't want to keep cars longer than 2 years as I want to enjoy as many as possible :) And strangely the classic car is the one I own longest and I did maybe 1000-2000 miles in it.

I used to keep cars for a year when I first started driving but the last 4 I've had I've kept for about 3-4 years before wanting a change.

I've had something in the region of forty plus cars (excluding company cars) since I started driving. Some I'd like to forget  :(

Over the last fifteen years I've had several cars at the one time.
BMW 2002Lux
BMW 2002Tii
BMW E32 735iSE Auto
BMW E34 525iSE x 2
Honda Accord 2.0 Auto
Lexus LS400
Mazda Xedos 2.0 V6
M-B W201 2.6 Auto
M-B W201 2.5-16 x 2
M-B W124 300E Auto
M-B W202 C200 Auto Estate
M-B W202 C180
Honda Accord 2.0
M-B W202 C230K

Out of all those, the only one I've kept is one 190E 2.5-16 for eight years. All the others only lasted two years max. Maybe, I'll cop on some day...:dk: :D

1-2 years but have been know to keep them longer!

First Merc: 5 years. Second Merc: 3 years. Only had third Merc for two weeks but I reckon it will be with me for some time.
In my previous 42 years of car ownership I changed cars at intervals of 2 - 3 years.

Had my C220cdi W204 seven years now and plan to keep it another seven, still looks and runs like new
