Great morning, loved it. Mattc was asking me around what MPG did I get out of the C250 Diesel Estate. Well today Matt it was over 45MPG which is enough for me:thumb:

As I went out of Stockport and passed through a few villages I was being tailed by a very tasty black 12 plate BMW 5 Series Saloon. When we got to a place he/she could pass. I dropped my left indicator on and pulled over a touch expecting to see the 5 going shooting by, leaving me in a cloud of dust. True there were double white lines in the centre of the road but it was obvious nowt was coming. The BM stayed behind me.

Just then a motor cycle with 1 up took the pair of us giving it a complete wrist full. We were in a 50 limit. At the next safe passing point. The BM light up like a seasonal tree and squatted down like it needed a pee and hurtled after the bike. Yup "smokey" had his first of the day, I'm guessing. Could not tell it was a plain wrapper from the rear view mirror. Looked too tasty for a Fed vehicle.

Smokey was having "interview" without coffee with said solo about three miles up the road. Load os signs up re speed limits and accident on that road.

Smokey looked like he may have been a bike rider given the length of his hair.

The rear windows of the BM were quite heavily tinted black so you could not see it was a smokey driving it.

Thanks Ian for nailing it altogether and great to meet you all.

As everybody has already said a wonderfull morning / lunch time / early afternoon jaunt, met some great people odly enough with the same incurable addiction to the Mercedes marque!! A lovely selection of cars too just proving it really doesn't matter if you have spent a little or a lot on your Merc it will always be your pride & joy.
Big thanks to Ian for organising it all and to everybody I met today who made a very memorable Sunday!!

Lets get organising the next one!!

Cheers

Well I have to say its by far the best sunday breakfasts I've had for for a good while.. nice to meet new members and old alike.. shame I couldn't make it up to Strines!! Many thanks to Ian for sorting this cracking morning out!! Looking forward to the next one...

Being retired I don't usually get up before 10am. However, this morning I was up at dawn looking forward to the breakfast run, my 1st GTG. Glad I did, great breakfast met some new MB enthusiasts. Good talking to you Matt and your lovely wife, sorry for not taking her for a ride maybe next time. Thanks for organising Ian great job look forward to the next one. Yes it is a R231 500 SL and goes like stink. Economical too, over 30 mpg today, not bad for a 4.7 twin turbo.

Hello Matt - I can't PM you yet as you're not past 30 posts (admin - can we alter this for Matt please, he got his gtg wings after yesterday :thumb:).

Would you list the Poorboys gear and process we spoke about please?

Thanks,

Morning all and what a great day out in the "frozen north " I had yesterday. Really enjoyed meeting everyone and as has been noted earlier what a friendly bunch of MB enthusiasts I found.

I left home at 4.30am and got back at 5.00pm having collected a replacement rear drivers side door, with electric window regulator attached, in Northamptonshire - result! Just need to fathom out how to get the new one off but that can wait for another day.

Round trip was 520 miles and Sybil didn't miss a beat which is impressive, I feel, for a 25 year old car. She was also the only one on display without alloy wheels too.

Ian - many thanks again for organising such a great GTG.

Hi All.
Many thanks to Ian for organising such an excellent GTG.
Ian - Your organisation and attention to detail is fantastic.
Top Man !!

Good to meet MB friends old and new.
I've passed Hassop Station many times, but never called in before.
Great place and good breakfast selection at a good price.

Thanks for great photos .
It makes you proud to be part of the MB fraternity.

A call at the Strines Inn on the way home was another most-agreeable experience.
Always a good venue.
The road may be a bit challenging ... But it's not that bad.
Got home safely.
Try it in the depths of winter.
Now that is really challenging.

Great day out ... Thanks Everyone.

John (Developer) - I've just been busted by my brother-in-law. He was on the southbound M1 between Tibshelf and the Alfreton junction (J28) when we came hooning past...

:o

Sorry mate - don't know what you mean :dk:

He's not the Bronze is he?

I suppose you would spot 14 cylinders and nearly 10 litres of Merc flash past .

So glad I spotted this a couple of days after it happened - NOT!

Especially as I live just outside the peak district and would have loved to have joined you. Having said that, I did drive to Guildford and back on Saturday to add to the 800 miles I drove between Mon and Friday so I probably wouldnt have wanted to spend long in the car.... although one of you could have picked me up on the way through Chesterfield!

Love the Strines pub, used to use that round to get to work from time to time when I was required to visit a site further on from the Fouch roundabout - is it Penistone way?

Hi isleaiw,
As you will probably of read, it was a cracking day out but i'm sure after the success of this one there will be others!! If you can't wait that long keep an eye out for the curry nights which are equally as good and a very friendly group which I can definitely recommend...... Hopefully we might see you in the future??
