Philips X-treme Power Headlamp - 80% more light

Thanks for the second ebay link in this thread - ordered the philips 80% xtrme power with sidelights included for £28 ish delivered.
Looks like a good deal - will use these with my new car (adaptive headlights but with regular bulbs not xenon.)

Will let you know what I think...

£26 per pair on ebay

Spotted these £26 including P&P.

I have just bought some.

Interestingly I have found on http://www.hids4u.co.uk/product_details.asp?id=477 details about the colour temperature. For the H7 it is nearly 5000K on the Philips bulbs. The colour temperature on the OEM Mercedes D2S 35 W proper Xenon bulbs is 4300K.

In summary these should look amazing.

Anyone fitted them yet? We need a review.

Finally Fitted them

I finally got around to fitting the Philips Xtreme 80% lights into the SLK.

First problem is if you follow the SLK manual you expect to just pop open the bonnet and fit the things, not lightly unless you are a 10year old with tiny hands and soft bones.

After an abortive attempt lasting 90 minutes and ending up with my son having to get his hand in to put things back how they were, I got on the SLK forum and found the only way to get to the dipped headlights for a bulb change is by loosening the plastic wheel arch liner, pulling it away and getting to the headlight units through the wheel arch.

Anyway they are now fitted.

Results.
They are very white, makes sidelights look orange. Will need to upgrade these now!
Yes more light on road.
Not quite up to the EClass Xenons but very acceptable.

Good stuff atleast they got fitted in the end ! Some pictures would be great if possible ?

Mine are fitted now and I am impressed. A drive home from Gatwick at 0130 was like driving in daylight (well, nearly!) I know they are much brighter as the reflection from road signs can be blinding!!

My side lights are also a bit pathetic now. :( I have some blue ones I could fit but are they road legal (or a bit chavvy!!)?

?

I trust that you are going to church now that you can see the light

You could try white single LED side lights

Well I would like to thank you guys for this post...

I tried them and they bugg*red my cars headlights up..

Now nothing works - and the dealer said as I didnt use Mercedes approved Baked Beans that there is nothing they will do for me...

:(

We changed the side-lights on our 211

Some folks might not approve, but I prefer the 'after' :)

:o :o :o Mega embarrassment. Someone on this forum recommended the type and I made the purchase. I know that I once had a memory but I forgot what happened to it??? Hopefully the gang will very shortly bale me out!! There is a link on this forum somewhere :o :o

Found it:

PIAA Platinum Whites

Good luck
John

Are they not comparing HID bulbs with standard halogens? HIDs are as it is 60-80% more efficient then halogens so I suppose all Xenons should be 60-80% brighter then halogens.

Or are these more brighter then the standard xenons we have?
