picked up new car , problems already

But shouldn't a dealer have pointed these faults out?

Or maybe the buyer checked more carefully :)

Failing that ditch it and get a mans merc like this one!

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C63683/

we did my mechanic and me these faults have happened since i last saw it, pixels no i thought the minus sign on the screen - was like a serice bar like the old bmw's had a red like come on in segments, until i read the user manual say temp gauge

Good luck getting it rectified but I'm sure you'll get it sorted. Doesn't sound like anything drastically wrong with it - try and concentrate on enjoying the rest of the car and just get the niggles fixed.

£8k sounds like good value for a CLK cabriolet - I'd be more worried about mechanical condition and rust at this sort of price/age - the pixels/service etc can be easily done for little cash :)

Really Will ?

I have no idea of current CLK cab prices , but i thought 8 grand was a little steep myself especially as its a 200 ....

I got £6.5k for my 320 cab when it was written off ...

How many miles has it done ?

Flippin heck guys kick a man when he's down ....

The op looked a lots of cars, as he said this was a 9/10 with the few bits sorted (which it can be cheaply relatively) then he will be happy with the car (I hope)

Wasn't meant like that , just surprised at the price. It's probably the correct price for the car , i just wasn't aware of what they went for ...

Hi guy im tough i can get back up ..lol
yes the car is absolutiy mint beside them niggles, just done the mot test of recycled, thats great came up with o/s rear slighty scored thats it passed..the car was up at £9k about 6 months ago, but i never looked at it as i wanted the clk 230 cab got fed and gave this one a luok the seats /carpets roof all mint minus the stiching thats has come undone...

230k 2001 94k miles http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/956503.htm

320 2000 59k miles http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/969522.htm

320 2001 AMG kit and wheels http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/475083.htm

Some well priced cars there - and at the other end of the scale:

I guess if it's the spec he wants (manual?) he might struggle to find one (auto for me please!)

If it really is a clean car with no rust etc and no major faults, I still reckon CLK cabs are good value for money. £1/2k either way, still nice cars for the cash :)

Condition/spec/mileage/rust etc will have quite an influence on the price at this end of the market.

Hope it all works out for you. These niggles can really take the shine of a nice new motor if you let them get to you. I would be looking into this point though: - if it has truly been FMBSH every six months then at 58k over 8 years there's no way the service indicator should be reading 700 miles to a B (or any) service. Or is it just that the previous guy did an intermediate oil change every six months (non-MB workshop job) in which case it could validly be longer since MB saw it? Should be easy to check for in your paperwork - what was the mileage recorded on the last service receipt?

yes all there service's yes at mercedes benz (A's +B's)when they show in book, and his local garage 6 monthly service receipt shown, oil change filter, plugs etc, i know the car was parked up for 5 months as well ,has he work away from home, bill for storage of his car when away.......all service's match minus the one for 5 months when he was away..so happy there ,the history /paperwork took about 1 to 2 hours to go through everything at the dealer, even he was impressed and one of the reasons he took it off the guy, who traded it for a Slk not sure of model number

Glad that all stacks up. Not many would pay for regular intermediate oil and plugs changes. Hope you get the niggles sorted soon and can kick back to enjoy your car:)

does this site do meeting where all us fellow MB owners meet up. and chat, on a day somewhere..
thanks for your input , very welcome......:o

Good luck Simon, at least negotiate as much discount as possible for the faults that have appeared since your viewing. You may well be able to fix the display yourself at no cost, I got my temp readout working, but the clock and gear position are still mostly not working.

yes, regular meets are arranged via here and other MB forums

you have bought an old(ish) car and you have some very minor faults on otherwise what appears to be a very nice car (apart from the small engine but you knew about that ;)) - I think you ought to calm down a bit before you call the dealer

I would also be surprised if the MOT shows anything up on a 58k mile MB with a main dealer SH.

If today's MoT comes through OK, then the other issues are all relatively minor. I'd hope if you explain this calmly to the dealer then an amicable agreement can be made.

Did you previously know that there was only 700 miles to the next service, or has the car been driven lots since you viewed it?

thinking of taking it for a mot tomorrow even though it as 12 months done by the garage see if it passes..what would you guys do...Regards :(

I think you're wasting your money taking it for an MOT.

What's the point if it passed a few weeks ago?

Won't the dealer just say that they were there when he viewed it?

It is an old car after all, so there's always going to be some issues.

I think he's trying to establish whether the MoT was done at the reputable garage or not.
