Picking up used Merc, Options missing ???

I do expect to get all the listed items on this car, I don't think this is unreasonable, the price I agreed factored in all they information they gave me.

Agreed - however, there are experts on here who can corroborate or disagree with what your mercnut man has told you, based upon the options he's told you are missing.

What if he's wrong and you're about to have a bunfight for nowt?

I had a very quick look over the car, I can see little wear/damage, I agreed to buy the car.

The moment you look over the car you don't have a leg to stand on.
Fair? Probably not, but that is the case.

You need to call the dealer tomorrow and raise your concerns, you stand a chance of getting something agreed mutually that way, go in on Saturday and start to demand this and that and it will probably end up with you ****** off and maybe without a car.

What possible valid and sensible reason can there be to not tell us what the options are your MB expert friend thinks are missing? So they add up to £1000 on a new car which probably makes them worth no more than £100 now. Very little of the £30K your paying for this car will be based on any value of options fitted. Just go to any of the reputable car valuers and you won't find anywhere where they ask if it was fitted with the optional nail clipper pouch, moustache grooming kit or Dolly Parton soft massage attachment. They're financially worthless on a second hand purchase although they do add to the appeal of a vehicle. However, as you've already paid, you've bought it and the attraction stage accomplished.

As it happens, I'm on your side in as much as I too would be disappointed to find advertised options missing from a vehicle, but to not tell us what they are is just plain ridiculous.

Regards,

I don't feel telling the dealer before I pick up car of problems is good for me.

If I pick up the car on Sat and they agree to fit all the iems, no problems.

I just wanted a previous MB customer history of watt they do/offer.

I want a heads up of the best options that may be available to me on saturday.

TIA Value

Well you seem to be the only person here that thinks like that, which is why I said, come Saturday you will probably come away p***ed off and car less.

They don't do/offer anything, they may offer some good will, but that is as far as it goes, but going in there on the day you collect, which is also their busiest day and probably a day when the dealer principal and workshop are not there means you will not get anything sorted.

Read the part in italics and bold very carefully Value Motering.

You could have a very bad day in newcarland.

Very good points GizzE.

How did you agree to buy this car? Were you equally reluctant to talk to them then? I am sorry but I cannot take this thread seriously!

You're just making life difficult for *yourself*.

As regards fitting 'options' then bear in mind that a lot of them are factory options. Note that term .......... 'factory'.

If you order a new car and the spec is wrong when it arrives there is often nothing the dealer can do other than order a replacement, negotiate, and/or offer third party 'equivalents' (yuk).

Personally I wouldn't wait until Saturday. If you've seen the car (and presumably driven it?) and paid any deposit then your position is weakened. Have you signed anything? Presumably you have to get to this stage.

If you have concerns then pick up the phone or visit them as soon as.

Stop messing about.

I'm sorry, but this is total nonsense. How can informing the dealer beforehand, when they may be able to rectify the situation, be bad for you??

I doubt, in all honesty, anyone else has been in this weird situation, so "best options" are probably not available.

However, I guess what you're trying to do is to force their hand on saturday because you know they will have taxed and registered the car in your name by then and will be reluctant to take it back for refund. This is a dangerous game to play with a dealer - when I was a salesman at a dealer (Ford) a customer tried this on, on collection day and was firmly told by the dealer principle the only option available at that stage was a reduced refund as the car was now technically third hand!

Play this game at your own risk! Be sensible, phone them now and get it sorted!

I was thinking the exact same thing, which however you look at it, is a bit underhanded by the poster. They need to be straight with the dealer and stop playing games.

VM: As it's been mentioned a few times ^ you need to call the dealer now so it'll give them time to look into it.You telling them on sat when picking the car would be useless is is not much they could do than

Let's assume the dealer is obliging (I doubt he will be with the strategy you propose):
You can ring him now and he can have the car sorted for Saturday or
You can get an agreement to sort it on Saturday and then take your car back and leave it with him for a day while he sorts it.

Try this before you get in contact - it may help.
