Time to remind folk that this event is happening. I hear that Andy_k may make it

you hear correctly now that we know we have a car to come down in :)

all we need to find now is a hotel - 2 adults, 2 Dogs, no kids

Do the locals have any suggestions and is anybody else going to be staying overnight on either the Saturday or Sunday ?

Good morning Andy,
It would be most rude for me to keep quiet, but I have absolutely no knowledge about the hotel industry down here and I think that also applies to MikeL.

It is the height of the season at the moment and I just wonder if your pooches might prove to be a problem with some of our horeliers? (Fruedian spelling mistake if ever there was one :o ) hoteliers...... (I have no idea)

I do have a local Thompson's directory and time on my hands, if you send me a pm with budget and requirements I will try phoning around for you.

I have mentioned it before but will say it again...

I highly recommend that everyone comes via Teignmouth and over the bridge into Shaldon and then Torquay.

I have given my phone number to Ian and will be manning the telephone to talk any wayward travellers ;)

Take care,
John

thanks John but Annie is going to get on the case as soon as she has worn the monsters (kids) out.

There are loads of hotels in Torquay that advertise as "pets welcome" and many of them seem to have vacancies - I think Annie mentioned one called the Waterfront?

Once she's booked something well let you know

Thanks for the kind offer, but you enjoy the sunshine

I am so pleased to read that (being a dog owner). I had a quick look in Thompsons (useless by the look of it) but the only Water Front they list is at Dartmouth.

Good luck and we are really looking forward to seeing you,
John

it was a hotel called the Water's Edge but they don't take dogs - despite being listed in the "pets welcome" guide.

Ho hum, there are plenty more on the list we'll have a look and a ring around later,

Annie is out with the kids to give me a chance to get a couple of hours work done so I'd best take advantage of it.

Andy

hotel booked - we are stopping at the Anchorage Hotel in Babbacombe on the Saturday and Sunday nights if anybody else is looking for accomodation they allow pets, seem friendly and have vacancies

Hi Andy,
Just looked up the location and it is only a very short distance from our house. The web site looks impressive and hopefully it will live up to your expectations.

Well done,
John

Totally agree, it is one of those places that really is worth a visit. As it gets darker there is more to see. The 'Close Encounters' item is good as well as the llaser show (so all our visitors tell us) Just down the road from us is Kents Cavern.

Which is another attraction, but for those interested in seals, penguins etc there is Living Coasts which is owned by Paignton Zoo (not my cup of tea)

The 'boss' is getting nervous' I'm getting excited and my son can't wait to help polish the cars   :)

Take care everyone,
John

Ok to add another 2 people?

I should like to try to attend this year - especially as it is so close to me!!

Steve + Wifey.

I'm staying over on Saturday night, will book tomorrow. Just need a hotel/B&B with broadband access (wired or wireless) as sad as it sounds

I posted a link for the hotel we are staying at higher up the thread, seems like a decent place to start drinking if nothing else :)

Ian et al

I delayed responding to Ians PM while I tried to move one of those unmoveable committments.

Sorry and much to my regret the unmovable was unbudgeable.

I hope you all have a great time, the weather stays fine and the traffic flows freely and the speed cameras go on the blink!

I'd love to come down for this but my son has his karate grading that day so I'm afraid I wont be able to make it. :(

Hopefully someone will take some pictures and post them up here :)

Hope you all have a great day.

I have a wireless broadband connection, but it is with Wanadoo using their Livebox. If all else fails you are more than welcome to have a dabble, unfortunately we are on the very limit of broadband reception and we can only receive 512kb speed.

The weather at present is perfect, but the week-end is described as changeable! However here in Torquay we tend to have our own mini climate so fingers crossed.

I will shortly post my suggested route to program into navigation systems, or handed over to navigators.

Regards,
John
