Hi all

I hope this is a quick question....

I have a 1999 W220 S320 LWB with COMAND, not sure what version it is totally confused by the different models TBH but anyway.

I purchased an original TeleAtlas CD navigation set from PikeyBay this week having been advised that this was the version I need to get TMC and dynamic traffic routing working on the nav system. All works ok, but I still dont seem to have TMC, in fact in the navi screen the setting to set the traffic info source are greyed out. I am confused having spent several hours reading posts and various bits of info. I think I need to tune into classic fm (not really my thang but hey who cares) in order to receive TMC signals but have tried this and still no luck. Am I doing something wrong, would anyone be so kind as to offer any step by step advice ..... PLEASE???

Cheers all happy bonfire night!

If the traffic info source setting is greyed out then you most likely dont have a TMC disk.

When you have a TMC disk, you dont need to tune to classic FM. The head unit will do that when you select a dynamic route.

Would you happen to know what disc is the correct one to provide TMC/TCS functionality?

I have both a 2006 and 2003 and neither of them appear to work.

There are usually at least two versions of the nav disc for each year, standard and TMC. The disc should have the title written on it. If it helps the TMC discs are about £50 more than the standard ones.

A great post and once again awesome prompt answers

this is something I have always wondered about on my comand 2.0 in my W163

I had always wondered if the system was interactive and would divert you around jams

from reading this is it safe to assume that the system is interactive and WILL divert you around traffic jams but ONLY if you have the TMC disc?

I must have the normal disc - where do you purchase the TMC side of it or do you need to purchase the whole disc again?

Is the rest of my post correct about live diversions?

Where is best place to purchase said disc?

With effect from the latest disk, the 2008/2009 Dx disk, they now only supply one version and that the TMC one. It makes ordering (and supplying) a lot easier as its just one product now.

The package is sold as 2008/2009 DX UK/Ireland with TMC. It comes with a bonus disk which is Major roads of western europe. RRP is £113 but there are discounts to be had ;)

EDIT: Yes it does route you around congestion.

Bugga,

not long bought an update disc for my system...think it is version 8 or 9 (postcode version - although useless as a 5 didget system)

GOT to get myself the TMC disc version as think it will make the system a wholly different animal

I'm now long overdue for a new disc as I'm still using the original which seems to think that most of the roads around my area are actually still fields

I had a new comand unit fitted about 2 years ago after the first one refused to read my disc any more.... so I'm not sure whether it's been updated and is supposed to use a different disc or not, although it reads my old disc fine so I'm assuming it's the same.

anyhow I would be grateful if you could pm me a price for the latest version and how I go about ordering
TIA
Pete

What is TCS then and how does that work.

Doesnt it transmit over Classic FM and is free version, a bit like TMC?

I've got comand 2.0 in my 03 W163. I know I should read the manual but you guys may have a quick answer:
The disc I have is a UK & Ireland 2006 DX and has a label on the box which says "Dynamic route guidance with iTMC for GB"
I presume that this means it has TMC, do I have to do anything for the re-routing to work or is it automatic?

V8 or V9 is the DVD for comand APS. That isnt the same as the Telatlas DX TMC disk for Comand 2.

Just select dynamic route guidance instead of fastest or shortest route.

On my Comand 2.5 in my 1999 SClass all of the settings for TCS or Dynamic route guidance are greyed out

I guess it just doesnt have this feature enabled.....

Your disk isnt a TMC one thats all.

Tried it today, Alfie. Unfortunately "dynamic" is greyed out and not available.:(

Is there another setting I'm missing?

Nav -> Settings -> select TMC source as the free one.

Ok, I've done that and the radio retuned to Classic FM.
As I prefer Radio 2, I retuned which cancelled the dynamic guidance.
On the list of stations available, Classic is the only one with TMC beside it.
Does this mean I can only listen to Classic or CD's whilst using dynamic rout guidance?

Yes in a nutshell. You can only listen to CD's if you have a CD changer in comand 2/D2B cars as you need the navigation disk to be in the unit if navigating.
