Quick question about COMAND and TMC

Yes in a nutshell. You can only listen to CD's if you have a CD changer in comand 2/D2B cars as you need the navigation disk to be in the unit if navigating.

Seems crazy to me that in an expensive system like comand that they have overlooked the need for a twin tuner in the radio part to allow listening to one station while another station provides the TMC input:mad:

The dual tuner was introduced to comand from around MY2005 onwards when they switched to Comand APS. Sadly the earlier Comand 2 units are single tuner.

Alfie a question if i may. A Couple of weeks ago they closed the M40 for 13 hours both ways. I was going to Oxford and new of the closure so i decided to go the M4 instead. I put my destination into the sat nav which was north of Oxford.

On the screen it showed the no entry sign on the M40 but was still sending me to the M40, i was waiting for the sat nav to redirect me, it didn't as i was turning onto the M4 it still wanted me to go to the M40. I was in the W221, i did click on TMC and the information said M40 closed J 4-6 i think. Any ideas.

Many thanks.

Sorry to high jack the thread.

I believe the earlier comand units ARE dual tuner but the second tuner is used to actively scan for other stations or the same station on alternative frequencies.

Far less useful than using one for TMC! :(
