Snow Foam, really that good?

If the car's been waxed recently a rinse then snow foam can do a great job. Just remember to use PH neutral foam and dab dry with proper (not necessarily expensive) towels

I get the pressure washer out, and connect my snow lance.

Put an inch of concentrate in the bottle and fill with warm water.

Coat car.

Spend the dwell time filling my buckets and getting out my cleaning boxes.

Rinse car then wash as required.

Takes little extra time in reality. I use the waiting time to do stuff I need not do before snow-foaming.
Ah ha...true multi tasking!

Snow Foam is a Pre Clean. Its good for removing most of the contamination. Effectively breaking up the wash process... I like to think of it as "Using the correct tool for the job".

1. Jet the car with pressure washer.
2. Snow Foam
3. Hand Wash (2 buckets etc)
4. Another Snow Foam if you have any left (because its cool!!)
5. Rinse.

That's a typical Wash Process. After that comes Drying (Water Magnet Towel or Leaf Blower) then the clay bar process to remove bonded contaminants i.e Tree Sap.

After this its typical to use something like Tardis, to remove Tar Spots. Depending on **** Levels perhaps another clay after this.

But everyone is different and everyone has varying methods.

Indeed.

Only at the end should a beer be opened and a longing gaze to admire your handiwork.

You wouldn't want to be driving it and getting it all dirty again - would you ?

Why are you using snow foam twice????

Well I never do that... always wash the car after using the snow foam because I think it can leave spots on the car's body. Anyhow can you show me the results? I wanna see that how that looks without washing the car after applying the snow foam on that.

Ive used both Valet Pro snow foam & citrus prewash on black and silver cars and IMHO think they are both very overrated . Bought some swarfega vehicle cleaner
£8 for 5 Litres dilute 10/1 spray on using garden spray 2ltr bottle, leave to soak, wash car, job done and a lot cheaper, spend the money on good Wax & sealants instead :D

I’ve started to use Mr Pink by Chemical Guys. I find snow foam works best on paintwork that has be waxed and then sealed. A typical wash takes me around 4-5 hrs.......only slightly obsessed.....;)

Don't waste your time and money turning it into foam, it cleans loads better sprayed on from a pump hand sprayer that you can get for a couple of quid. Leave for ten minutes and pressure wash off. Valet pro advanced neutral snow foam is the business and can genuinely clean a moderately dirty car on its own. That's not even with decent wax etc on the car already. It makes a great wheel cleaner too.

I now only use snow foam on my cars when they've already got a good coat of wax - spray on, 10 minutes to "dwell" then rinse off.

Job done well enough for the muddy lanes round here (OCD car cleaning is a summer pastime for me, absolutely no point at this time of year).

If I haven't washed the car for a while then I usually bring out the snow foam as a pre-wash... the build up of dirt and mud would be too much for a hand wash to handle.

I use snow foam as a pre wash especially when there's been a lot of spray on the roads. I rinse the car, snow foam it , rinse it again , hand wash it using two buckets , rinse again and then hand dry it . Takes a bit of time but gives good results.

I use Auto Finesse Avalanche for pre-wash foam which works really well. As has already been said dwell time can used for preparing for wash. Not a bad idea to use any left over foam as additional lube during 2 bucket wash.

Chemical Guys "no touch snow foam" - pretty much does as it's name suggests.

Worst case scenario on a VERY dirty vehicle, I leave it on for 10-12 minutes and used a very soft brush all over to agitate the foam before rinsing.

End result, very clean vehicle with no swirls or bits missed.

Downside, you need to experiment with the mixture levels (and mix). I bought a generic £35 foam lance attachment for my Karcher; works well.

There are now foam sprayers that fit on a standard hose; don't know how good they are.

I use Valet Pro advanced PH neutral also and find it works well either with my Karcher foamer or by hand pump. There's no way I'm going back to 'conventional' means! :bannana:

I have a foam sprayer for the hose and it's just not as good as the one I use with my Karcher pressure washer.

Im not entirly convinced snow foam makes a difference, seems to dry to quick too and also leave water marks if your not carefull.

Im still trying it will different ratio's to see which works best

Remember that is a pre-wash designed to removed grime before you apply your preferred shampoo solution by whatever means you prefer in order to minimise the potential of scratching.
