SONAX SONAX Brilliant Shine Detailer

Anyone compared this to aqua wax? Have never found anything better.

I find Sonax tends to collect and concentrate the dirt in the droplets, so the dirt isn't as evenly distributed over the body work.

Just ordered some, and a brand new thick microfibre cloth.

Looking forward to using it on my brand new (7~10 day old) paint job. :D

Check with the painter before you apply it, a lot like to leave if for a few weeks before any protection is applied. Can't remember the exact reason, something about the paint drying time. :dk:

Spot on advice, 4 weeks is the norm depending on paint

You can get 5L of Autoglym Aqua Wax (express wax) for about £30 delivered on eBay. Does the same thing.

Doesn't do the same thing through when wet/raining & doesn't have the same durability.

I avoid the plastic lenses, as it doesn't say, incase it reacts with the plastic and UV.

I've used it on plastic lenses without day issues..

Any sealant that causes beading will do this (so basically all).

Not with wax or synthetic wax I find, though possibly different to sealant like glass coatings.

This is hydrophobic I think, which behaves slightly differently on my car.

Exciting - just got confirmation email from ECP that my Sonax BSD has been shipped Actually also took the opportunity to order some wheel cleaner as well to see how that performs.

Hadn't thought of that. I know the lacquer will need a few weeks to fully harden, but I assumed that's hardness as in Mohs, as in aversion to scratches.

I didn't consider a chemical application could be an issue. I'll wait until Friday as I'm going back to the dealership/bodyshop for new Elegance badges on the wings reapplied as they forgot to put them back on, so I'll ask then. :thumb:

Didn't really notice that much orange peel before, but after Sonax's extra gloss has been imparted it seems to enhance the orange peel as mentioned earlier.

Here is a close up... Note and compare with the smooth reflections in the glass and chrome handle.

If it's the Sonax wheel cleaner, make sure you use it in a well ventilated area and stand down-wind of it if possible. It stinks.

Hmmm, I'll certainly take heed of that.

Otherwise, what are the results like?

quality costs but its worth it

I believe sonax makes the care care products you buy at the Merc dealer too. I know they make the bmw stuff for sure

I will pick some of this up when my Aqua wax runs out, the results look good.

Marketing guys were being a little juvenile perhaps :D

Never mind the girl, look how clean and smooth the paint is on that Opel, not a orange or satsuma peel in sight.
