SONAX SONAX Brilliant Shine Detailer

Decided to give this a go, having seen the great results. I got it from ECP for £6.99 with free delivery! It was delivered next day as well.

I was running low - I DID have 2 fresh bottles but couldn't remember where I put them.

Was on drive Sonaxing my car and the delivery guy pulled up and handed me the parcel, with a re-order of 3 bottles I made a couple of days before.

Perfect timing, cracked open the box and carried on Sonaxing :D

I tend to find the rear of the car gets really dirty in rain, but not sure if it is the design of this car, or the fact the dirt flows from the rest of the car to the back more easily and collects there. Same for my inner door sills. They get filthy with a spot of rain (talking one day). Again not sure if it is the design or the Sonax BSD. Can't recall it picking up that much dirt from a day's rain.

Rear of mine gets really dirty too. Never put it down to the wax, always thought it was the spray kicked up. Could well be the wax though.

It's turbulence - you should try running a black estate :(.

It's turbulance alright. A glaring sign that the areodynamics are poor in that area.

Turbulance is inevitable in a car shape. The trick is to keep the area down as small as possible, and keep it as far to the rear as you can. Tha air moving over the front, roof and sides of the bodywork should keep it clean if it is moving smoothly in an attached way. Once it separates from the body, you have turbulance and extra drag. All of which has to be paid for in extra fuel.

Not to mention big dirty areas..

I guess the areodynamicists in the design department had very little say in the final shape, compared to the stylists and bean-counters.

OK, the new C class is joint (with Tesla S), most aerodynamic car in mass production from charts I've seen, with the bonus it doesn't look like a blob or a Toyota Prius :). But the dirt is a lot darker and dirtier than on my other cars.

Didn't really notice that much orange peel before, but after Sonax's extra gloss has been imparted it seems to enhance the orange peel as mentioned earlier. Here is a close up... Note and compare with the smooth reflections in the glass and chrome handle.
Jesus that's some orange peel ..

Yeah standard on new MBs now.

Didn't look that bad when I took delivery, the gloss accentuates the peaks and troughs in the orange peel pits? :dk:

All my previous cars had pretty flat finishes. Just not my latest and greatest (and most expensive) :(

though luckily, the orange peel is only visible at acute angles on the silver, most angles and straight on you don't see it.

pardon my ignorance but as I have been using AG aquawax on my silver estate can I also use this Sonax as well or instead of the AG wax

I've used both on my Silver E Class although not together at the same time....I don't think it will do any harm though.

Beading and longevity definitely better with Sonax in my view so probably no need for the Aquawax as well.

Thanks for the advice. I will use this stuff after I've clay mitt and polished to get the smooth finish.

I would use a hard wax after polishing then top up with this after each wash.

I applied Sonax BSD again today, I must have about 8-10 layers (if layers build) applied at least on a weekly basis, and the orange peel seems further accentuated again

Fully detailed the Golf today using all Sonax products and must say I'm very impressed. Guess we'll see how long they will last before final judgement :-)

Golf looks very glossy indeed.:thumb:

Incredible standout to the silver Beetle next to your car.
