As per the thread title I've gone and spilt orange juice all over the passenger's seat and down onto the carpet so that it pooled on the seat and the rear floor seat mounts. I've got it in mind in the morning to remove the seat tip water onto the wet areas and suck it up with a wet & dry vacuum then repeat a few times - unless there are better ways to rid the evil from the dearly beloved. Open to suggestions.....

Your way sounds far better than the hot soapy cloth with bucket of hot soapy water I was going to suggest. lol

Either way make sure it's hot, has to dissolve the sugars, etc.

I would rub the affected area using wet cloth on the surface, but I would be careful not to use excessive amount of water.

Repeating this several times will draw most if the spillage and dillute the stain.

Once dry, I would use interior 'shampoo' to remove any remains stains.

Soaking it in water runs the risk of having mold and unpeleasent smells in the long term.

Might try very warm water with odorless shampoo [fairy liquid] in a spray bottle, then suck it up with the wet and dry.

Good news is there is no stain that I can see and the juice seemed to lift very well out of the carpet with a towel. I guess it's the sugars and the smell [if any] I'd like to tame as well as the stickiness which will attract dirt later on.
Despite 20 years and 240 000 kms it still has a new car smell, especially when hot. It may sound silly but for some reason I really like it and it would be a bit of a pity to have that replaced with sweet orange.

Steam might be another option, it'll melt the sugars and moisten to allow you to rub with a towel, but won't input much water.

I've got one of those, you do need to be very careful with steam, it will dislodge the tufts from the carpet and leave the black carpet backing looking very prevalent against the mushroom tuft colour. It also fluffs the pile on house carpet, makes it go fuzzy. Still, might have a play from a distance - after the shampoo, on the basis that the more we can heat & wet the sugar/s the better the chance of lifting them out...

Job's gone very well except I dropped the seat as I was putting it in the car, something to do with being over 50 now and not quite as strong as I once was, and, I'm just getting over quite a bad cold - very disappointed with myself! Plan to resume press-ups each day!

As a result, the plastic trim around the seat belt latch looks like it has two of the attached metal imbedment securing clips as the trim came off and one of these was left on the drive. I don't suppose anybody would know exactly where on the plastic trim around the nearside seatbelt latch the other one of these blighters goes...?? I have searched on the plastic moulding and it does look like only one is meant to be there at the very aft end by the tilt forward hook on the seat.

Access to EPC may help.

Many thanks, W.

P.S. Some before and after shots...

The Karcher steam cleaner came in very handy indeed, it is a great tool for using in cars, here is how it shaped up after using it, doesn't look absolutely new but I am happy with the way it looks to my eyes in the flesh. Certainly the orange juice is gone and there is no smell = happy.

EPC won't show clip position, just how many, and if there are others in random places it will include them in the total. Are you sure there are no scratch marks anywhere which would indicate position...they're pretty sharp wee things.

They are and I was indeed on my hands and knees with glasses on looking for said scratches - no luck!

I'm trying to download Java 7 update 45 so I can get back into the EPC, slightly frustrating day...
