Missing the word "modern" here - Healeys, TRs (6 down), MGA, MGB weren't, you needed muscles to drive them - although I suppose Midgets, TR7s and Spitfires did end up with a girly image.
Funnily enough I was commenting to somebody that to my eye the R170 had some of the proportions of the TR6 (large wheels relative to size, convertable, and lots of mechanical noise from the engine).
Can't figure out which bit of male insecurity labels small, quick cars as girly.
It's just that the cars look a lot better with a woman at the helm than a guy. It's not so much that some cars are girly as that the cars enhance the carly aspects of the ladies.
Consider the great JC's recommendation regarding an excellent Ferrari convertible -- it puts your bald patch on display, people can see your stomache, and the fact that you're playing Nights in White Sation is apparent to everybody.
Basically my wife looks better than me in any car. But that difference is massively increased in her favour when it comes to riding in anything where the roof may be retracted.
