Standard SLK - Ratio of female to male owners?

Only insecure folks worry about what others might think regarding conservative, personal tastes :D

Scotsmen that wear dresses are closet you know whats. Skirts might be acceptable, but suspenders and other underwear garments are a bit iffy. :D

I think Scumbag's SLK was particulary girlie and no real man would be seen dead driving such a girlie, whoosie, vehicle.

Merry Christmas
Regards
John

Not sure what I would add by stating the obvious...but as it's for statistical purposes - it's a girly car mate...I just cringe when I see a guy driving an SLK...great looking car but it's almost as painful as watching a guy putting a skirt on ;-)

This does pose a further question. As we all know, Mercedes are all driven by middle aged German business men or taxi drivers. Thus is an SLK a frau or frauline mercedes?

Strange but I find the CLK more girly lots of females drive them including my sister.

The vast majority of small 2-seat convertibles have a girly image .. it's not like the SLK is being singled out particularly.

'Performance' cars are generally excluded (e.g. TVR, Porsche, AMG SLKs., Honda S2000).

Whether guys are bothered about having a 'girly' car is another matter. I've really enjoyed driving a couple of Micras I've owned in the past, and they're not exactly butch :D

If I could afford one I would consider an SLK55.

Although...... after all that has been said, what do you folks think of this incarnation?

Portzy.

I do like it. Not keen on the mustard/camel iterior tho:crazy:

I never thought my SLK 320 was particularly girly.....since this thread started I've been "genderising" SLK's. I have to say that with the exception of the 320's, they almost all seem to be driven by the x chromosome......

Missing the word "modern" here - Healeys, TRs (6 down), MGA, MGB weren't, you needed muscles to drive them - although I suppose Midgets, TR7s and Spitfires did end up with a girly image.

Can't figure out which bit of male insecurity labels small, quick cars as girly.

Always thought the W113 SL ('63-'71) and R107 SL ('71-'89) looked at its best driven by a certain sort of dominant female. Rather like the R170 SLK. But that doesn't mean that men look girly in one imo - just showing good taste rather than flexing their biceps:)

The girly ones (with small engines) aren't quick, that's the whole point.

Princess Di had an R129 SL500 of course ... this one in fact :)

Same year same colour as mine.....

Just bought a new SLK 280, and after having a s type jag a porsche boxster s and audi tt and the likes I find the SLK superb. The boot is large enough for a large case and lap top essential as I leave it at airports alot and the sound the V6 engine makes is so nice. It feels much more stable than the porsche did in wet weather.
